Absolutely textbook Mourinho. He could've written the script.
Horrible to watch, undoubtedly. But if he stays he'll win us a bunch of trophies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But will he win major trophies? Like the PL, CL or FA Cup?
So far he's only won a couple of minor titles.
Most of us would have taken a point before kick-off but there's nothing to like about how we went about it.
I will never accept playing like we did today and last season at Anfield for 90 minutes.
We knew exactly what we were getting with Mourinho though. He'll be happy today as he always is with a point away from home against the better sides and he's never going to change, unfortunately.
Surprised Lukaku didn't stick his hand down his pants for most of it, after getting bored with not touching any balls.
The focus can;t all be on Jose though... Some of the football was dreadful... Terrible passing, schoolboy errors, even a foul throw. The players take a good share of the blame today.

People will praise Mourinho for this but a world class save was the difference. That's not something even Mourinho can plan for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He can take credit for limiting you to just the one good chance
----
One good chance? What game did you watch Robb?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from the DDg save, when did Liverpool really trouble us?

Nobody said that mate

I know u didn’t but if not you a lot of fans would love that scenario
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mate its not that we didn't go gung-ho, not sure many people would have said that was a good idea but to just constantly relinquish possession. We didn't want to attack at all.
------------------------------------------------------------------
If the tactic is to play defensively and hit on the counter that's fair enough
You can't counter though if when you have the ball you constantly give the it away. I don't think rashford for example had one decent ball played to him when he came on. Don't know if you can blame Jose for the lack of composure on the ball today but it was horrible viewing.
I don't think he should have taken off martial. He was the only one who looked like creating anything. I would have taken young off instead

Can missed a sitter, Salahs follow up after that de gea save too. Then there were a couple half chances, firmino had one and Can had the other.
You limited us but it was slightly more than just one chance.
You are not a good side
Mourinho gets results from nothing so credit to him for this
The old Utd sides which I hated were fckng awesome down to a man , Irwin, Giggs, Keane, Rio, Eric , Hughes, Scholes, Stamm, Vidic and the list goes on and on
I don’t think you have one outfield player that is better than good, Matic is good and Valencia is.
We are a better team than you lot but use will grind out more results
This is my honest opinion and not meant to provoke any response
Spurs for me are better than us but I think they could finish below us
According to Maureen you were in total control of the first half
In the second half despite spunking millions he's bemoaning his lack of midfield options
Funny how chipper you Scousers are... we were dreadful, yet you still couldn't beat us at home and we're average.

-----------------------------------------------
Of course but even had we shown better quality in possession, it still wouldn't have made any real difference in terms of intent, taking more risk, committing more numbers forward to support Lukaku etc.
We clearly weren't prepared to show any real ambition today. It was the same at Anfield last season and as long as José is in charge, it'll continue.

............
Of course it would... we were extremely sloppy playing it out from the back and through the middle.... a bit more composure from the CMs would have given us time and space to attack better.
Jose has gone to Barca, in their pomp, and outplayed them... so not buying the idea that this is all we can ever expect... His Chelsea teams have also played well, away from home.

But even if we were able to find our attacking players with a pass, we'd still be short of support because we weren't willing to commit more players forward for fear of being opened up and losing the game, an approach I don't mind in certain parts of games but not throughout.

There are exceptions however he will more often than not play with extreme caution against better footballing sides away from home.
