Millions of star glazers around the world, many with sophisticated modern telescopes not to mention every day people with smart phones ready to film anything at the drop of a hat yet we still haven't got one decent image of an alien craft.

Yeah exactly, ultimately that’s where I end up with this topic. The UFOs spotted by military personnel is most likely foreign spy aircraft etc.

I find it interesting certain people on this thread think that the degree to which the body absorbs vitamin D has an impact on the ratio of fast or slow twitch muscles in the body.

I think the main issue is that there’s never been any sightings of this nature in a densely populated area for thousands of witnesses to see.

The truth is out there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think there have been such events, or close to that.

There have been some I think.

Funny you should mention this as I happened to read this last week

One can't help to wonder why extend the time and seal it for another 50 years if it doesn't depict something strange or sinister?

Why can't it be released now if its nothing?

Military mate. I doubt it’s alien space crafts. It’s like ghosts, so many reports and sightings but not one piece of irrefutable evidence.

With the size of the universe, the chances that extra terrestrial life has visited us is already very remote. Then for them to never just land and say hi in a densely populated area ever, is even more remote. Or fly by a densely populated area and not have 1000s of iPhone filming them.

It’s all possible, but it’s so unlikely.

It doesn't have to be extra terrestrial life or spy craft or whatever. The point is that there's something there worth keeping hidden, whatever it is.

If aliens do exist (they law of probabilities mean they must imo) then where does that leave religion?

It's as close to zero as to non existent. The scale of the universe means the technical maturity required and the duration of journeys even within our solar system means an Alien is likely to be "artificial" or at the very least largely inorganic. So motivations for visiting earth are hard to fathom beyond some von Neumann probe activity. If you are that advanced you don't bother hiding.

If there is something out there it wil be our radio telescopes that pick it up. With the advent of AI general intelligence within the next 100-200 years, it probably won't even be a human that discovers extra terrestrials. We might not even be informed.

Bottom line is however many observations or even educated guesses we can make about the number and potential ability of systems to support life, we know fack all about abiogenesis beyond the fact that it’s incredibly, incredibly improbable given any given set of conditions we yet know about.

We’re stuck with finger in the air stuff until we know a lot, lot more about the creation of life from the inorganic.

Yeah military / national security matters like I said. Either domestic experimental craft or foreign aircraft where releasing the facts could have serious repercussions.

Similar to all the JFK assassination files that weren’t released when they were supposed to be.

But you did reply to Roy’s Keane’s comment about aliens and proof with the scotland link so you were talking about aliens.

I think this is likely the case. we have probably had hundreds of probes sent to Earth

Civilisation has been around for what 60,000 years, the T-Rex lived closed to today 65 million years ago than it did to the Stegosaurus 155 million years ago.

The scale of time on earth is mind boggling as is the time taken for interstellar travel. Nearest star 4.4 light years away, Voyager travelled 1/600 of a light year in 30 years. I just can fathom why an entity with the technical ability to go to all that effort to visit earth would. Unless it is infinite monkeys and infinite typewriters type maths.
