Do you lot think all this chit happening now all at the same time is a Brexit, bad leadership, covid or all of the above thing?
I'm genuinely thinking Covid is a only a small % of why the UK is going to chit on a daily basis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a perfect storm. I'd always maintained that when covid hit, brexit should have been put on hold (transition extension) until the country had got back on its feet.

Managing both at the same time (IMO) was madness.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would have seemed like the most sensible and logical thing to do but we know our current gov doesn't do sensible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That said they won a 80 seat majority based on "getting brexit done" so (rightly or wrongly) this is what most voters wanted.

Therefore: Bad leadership.

We are a representative democracy, we elect someone to represent our best interests, not necessarily to do as we say, but to do the best for us.

My issue is the lack of foresight, to hark back to he waste solution i suggested yesterday, current tolerance in our national grid would allow us to use bio digesters to make the gas supply have around 10% renewables input, be it methane from bio digesters, or Hydrogen from energy storage plants.

It's something Germany have been doing for over 10 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was also reading that back in 2000 UK was self-sufficient in energy. And over the years became highly reliant on energy imports.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our energy grid hasn't had any real investment since the 70s, it's one of the least efficient in Europe and is degrading all the time.

We need to generate 2Kwh for every 1 that gets used because we lose so much through the system.

It's a huge part of the crisis, and why these essential services shouldn't be run as profit extracting monopolies.

It should be state run, as an arm's length NPE with performance targets and surplus limit. Witha. Requirement to budget accordingly to replace the infrastructure at the end of its useable life. Not keep it ticking over like the shareholder driven monstrosities we see today.

It's a massive part of us fighting climate change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s kind of what happened with Railtrack, infrastructure kept ticking along and investment / upgrades delayed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite, and our rails are poor, old fashioned, still aren't electrified, and the government has had to step in with reams and reams of funding to try and address the issues, to move it forward and modernise.

And now we will have to do the same with electricity, 40 years of shareholders extracting wealth, increasing prices, suppressing wages, and the taxpayer will have to step in to correct the negligence.

GMTV Richard Madely could be morphing into P Morgan, as he lambasts M25 blockers for causing harm to others, and then Meghan and Harry for using planes on a regular basis, to visit Elton John or a sports event recently, while lecturing us all on climate change and numbers of kids to have to prevent over population. The pair got an award for only having two children.🤔

Whod a thunk it.

The racist Pakistani killer of a white boy in Scotland has enjoyed a day out of prison....sporting a t-shirt with a gun on it.

5 pakistani men targetted an innocent white teenager in Glasgow, kidnapping him for being white, torturing him on a 200 year car trip, stabbing him 13 times, then setting the white teenager on fire, to die a terrible death.

The white kid was picked at random and was not involved in any form or racism himself.

This was the first racially motivated murder in Scotland.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is disgusting..

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well said.

Received limited coverage.

Fair comment, mate.

One massive change and crisis at a time.

Boris has enough problems on keeping track of false promises, lies, Fathers Day and remembering his kids birthdays.😉

It was well reported at the time as has the lunatic behaviour of Baldy behind bars.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The BBC has been criticised by some viewers because the case featured on national news only three times and the first trial was later largely confined to regional Scottish bulletins including the verdict itself. Although admitting that the BBC had "got it wrong", the organisation's Head of Newsgathering, Fran Unsworth, largely rejected the suggestion that Donald's race played a part in the lack of reportage, instead claiming it was mostly a product of "Scottish blindness". In preference to reporting the verdict the organisation found the time to report the opening of a new arts centre in Gateshead in its running order. The BBC again faced criticisms for its failure to cover the second trial in its main bulletins, waiting until day 18 to mention the issue and Peter Horrocks of the BBC apologised for the organisation's further failings.

Peter Fahy, spokesman of race issues for the Association of Chief Police Officers, noted that the media as a whole tended to under-report the racist murders of white people, stating "it was a fact that it was harder to get the media interested where murder victims were young white men".

The British National Party was accused by Scotland's First Minister and Labour Party MSP Jack McConnell among others of seeking to exploit the case for political advantage, and an open letter signed by MSPs, trades unionists, and community leaders, condemned the BNP's plans to stage a visit to Pollokshields. The group did hold a rally in the area, leading to accusations that it was fuelling racial tension.

Taken from wiki.

Take from that what you will. 🤷‍♂️

Basically, it happened but you/some people didn't feel that it had enough coverage...because he was White? But you heard of it, read about it and the guys have been sentenced, so it must have been covered by the media..no?

It was, I remember it and didn't need wiki to remind me of the ringleaders name. Shocking crime and appalling that it's now being used as a point scoring exercise for some peculiar reason.
