Fabricant sounds like a satirical name for a made up MP in this government.

Fabricant asserting the Downing St garden was an extension of the #10 office. And as such party was justified.

How do we fabricate an excuse to this Downing Street party? Looks like a job for Michael Fabricant.

Johnson (recorded in Hansard) stated he was repeatedly assured there was no party, and no rules were broken.

However if rules were broken there would be "disciplinary action for all those involved."

If he was there, (which seems to be the case) will be interesting to see what disciplinary action he takes against himself.

An unnamed Tory MP has been complaining to the BBC:

"To deliberately put something in writing to however many people is an amazing lapse of judgement. It’s beyond belief that somebody could write that. Beyond words that anybody could be so stupid.“

So their main gripe is that it was in writing so they could get caught, not that the party itself took place.

That was my reaction to the first party tbh.

The stupidity is worse for me than the crime in this instance.

So the government breaking their own rules and laws is OK so long as there is no email trail?

These are all examples of a bunch of people who believe themselves to be significantly smarter than they are. No surprises really.

Biggest lie of the day must surely have come from Michael Ellis who stood in for Boris in the Commons today, when he said that he has full confidence in the Prime Minister's 'integrity and honour'. Surely no one can say that.

They problems with the government go far beyond Boris who when he gets booted will be used as the scapegoat for all the ills as the Tory party try to cleanse themselves in the press.

May as well have just put a sign on the Prime Minister's lectern in the Commons today saying 'awaiting results of the investigation'. Would have saved Michael Ellis some time.

I think we at least need competency. Disagree with policy, personality, party politics, but at the very least I expect competency. Front benches can change very quickly.

are there roughly 20 Tory MPs who could make a competent cabinet at present? though given the track record of the current one it shouldn't be too tricky

I started writing a list of Tory MPs who have proven themselves to be liars and untrustworthy but it was getting far too long.

Tories were reliant on Rishi being the chosen one. Now he has increased taxes they are conflicted.
