Boris said there were no parties

Then he said he's furious to find out there were parties which he did not attend

Then he said he did attend but didn't realise it was a party

Now we have to protect his privacy should he get a FPN

Yep, this is a really shiiiiiiitttty episode.

The worst thing about it is the public apathy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think people are more concerned with other much more significant issues right now for one and I think a lot of people also broke the rules which I think is causing the apathy that you refer to.

Ironically, buying your head in the sand would be quite an effective way to avoid catching, or spreading, Covid.

My wife had it last week, and despite living in the same house not really attempting any extra separation, I tested negative throughout. Weird.

Tbh, I was a little annoyed to not get it. We have some very knowledgeable folk here, is it likely my immune system just coped sufficiently to not allow enough viral load to set off the test? Or am I just a medical marvel?

Could be several things:

Your immune system generally
Your response to the vaccine compared with your wife
You might have already had and it been asymptomatic

"In the interest of transparency I'm only going to release a text from the leader of one party"

I'm in agreement with a lot of what's been said already.
it's as clear as day, now, that rules were broken, hence the fines.
And the details are all under lock and key, but I think we agree most, if not, all infractions occurred on government property.
Involving elected people, most notibly, our PM allegedly.
He has been on record stating rules were followed. This is now shown to be false.
He denied events occurred, then that he wasn't aware these happened,
but would have met guidelines anyway, if they occurred.
Later he said he hadn't attended any parties, until photos surfaced of who was there. No surprise, BJ was present.
Then His team suggested these gatherings were normal days, painted as work meetings and such.

If anything is clear, it's that our government can worm out of responsibility if it chooses. This is not the type of leadership I expect, or voted for. Our police should be allowed to charge officials, same as anyone else. The government has abused its power to try recover the situation. Now, his party rallies to sweep all under the rug by pointing to the problems in Ukraine.

I get the argument for a United front against tyranny, isn't that what I've been rambling on about? If we accept this government are above the rules, how can we challenge or question Russia in diplomacy?

We need our house in order before poking others about how they chose to run things.

Biden's budget proposal: 10% increase in military; 11% increase in federal law enforcement; 13% increase for ICE. Biden wants $8.1 billion for ICE, which is higher than the highest amount Trump ever spent on ICE.

Genuinely mad how much they spend on their military.

Could easily decrease it by 50% and still be by far the biggest spender.

Forgive my ignorance but, what's ICE? Google tells me it's the Institution of Civil Engineers, so I assume it isn't that.

Ah, found it "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement". That's a lot of money to keep Mexicans in Mexico.
