Insert - from my perspective the polling on independence is irrelevant at this point. It's about if the thing should go ahead or not. I think we're both agreed that it should, and anybody who believes in democracy should agree that it does too.
For Labour to flat out say that they will reject any new indyref under any circumstances is a deeply uncomfortable position and reminds me why I'll never vote Labour (despite some very impressive Labour MSPs like Mercedes Villalba).
For what it's worth, I don't want a neverendum and I'd much prefer we have a vote next year then don't have another one for at least a decade. I really want us to focus on other issues but we never will if we don't put this to bed one way or another.

Alternatively those in power can make the Union work so effectively that it removes any argument to leave. That would certainly stop the endless debate about it.
Sadly(!) the reasons to remain in the Union are hardly compelling, hence the continued success of independence supporting parties at elections.

As Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law — or what critics have dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” law — goes into effect Friday, some of the state’s public school districts have begun rolling out new policies to limit LGBTQ issues and identities from being discussed in the classroom.
On Tuesday night, the Leon County School Board unanimously approved its “LGBTQ Inclusive School Guide,” which includes a provision to alert parents if a student who is “open about their gender identity” is in their child’s physical education class or with them on an overnight school trip.
“Upon notification or determination of a student who is open about their gender identity, parents of the affected students will be notified of reasonable accommodation options available,” the guidelines read. “Parents or students who have concerns about rooming assignments for their student’s upcoming overnight event based on religious or privacy concerns may request an accommodation.”
