The courts will have to get involved if the Scots want another referendum
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you all agree to wait a generation before holding another ref?
Yes.
Case dismissed until 2039.

Is there any reason not to use the vaccine? Is there any proof its not effective or credible?

I appreciate the name is goofy and Putin is an unpleasant autocrat but does that have anything to do with its efficacy. If, from a scientific perspective, it is as reputable as the rest on the market I'd have no issue taking it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well our regulators and the EU haven’t approved it, and I think it’s because of our hostile relations with Putin.

Is it just Serbia in the EU that have rolled Sputnik out?

Yeah. Why don't they trust this guy?
Just get Geiger counters on the shipments. No problemo.

If our regulators do approve it I would take the Sputnik vaccine if offered. I may have more reservations than the Oxford AZ one, but that’s just down to my own perceptions of Russia. My other half being Finnish I’m not sure she’d be so open to it though!

They’re obviously not gonna give their consent, who wants to be responsible for the break up of the country
-----------------------
They got consent for the previous referendum, why not another they could get the same result, oil prices are not what they were, the grass is not always greener.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You have a point, if the Tories were convinced they would win - they would hold one, but that's not what they think, understandably.

I should add - I believe there will be another referendum when enough people in England no longer care about the union and see indy Scotland as in their interest. This is already the view on parts of the right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By the same token Sturgeon has been accused (by many SNP voters/mp's) of not pushing Westminster hard enough for indyref2.

Like Boris she wants to be sure she'd win.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Highlights the utter fallacy of the modern Rights fetishism of "Britain", even though there was a No victory in the Scottish referendum they aren't willing to fight for that which they think is great, in fact, they're making the same mistake Leavers accused Remainers of, pre-judging the result and not bothering their arzes.

Jokers!

The Tesla Model S Plaid+ can move from 0 mph to 60 mph in under 2 seconds and then accelerate to a top speed of 200 mph. It will undoubtedly be better for the planet to be knocked down and killed by an electric car rather than a petrol-powered one.

TBAB...what's going on in N ireland at the moment , with all this trouble
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning.

I covered some reasons here last night buddy, and am on a quick break WFH.

The border issue was talked about in relation to Irish nationalist concerns, by SF, EU, Irish America, Remain, Dublin etc, but leave meant if there was no hard land border between NI and the Republic, there would be border checks between NI and GB, so one side was going to get annoyed, and Boris lied to loyalists, then we get a so called sea border...impacting constitutional position of NI in UK and the GFA, if anyone reads it closely.

Then we have pira funerals with 2000 mourners sand SF govt ministers attending and praising a terrorist killer, only for the PPS to say this was no covid breach, possibly advised by PSNI chiefs to keep SF happy?

Then you have loyalist gangs wanting to fight the police and republicans, kids wanting a lockdown release of recreational rioting, sinister drug linked elements and thugs.

The loyalist working class are bottom of the school ladder, in poor housing and with poor mental and physical health in many areas, left behind by middle class unionism and nationalism.

Loyalists see pira members in govt so think violence pays too.

It's so many things mate...bigotry and hate, from both sides, are major factors too.

The old British v Irish, orange v green battle on going.

People have also demonized and ignored unionists and loyalists and so some people here behave according to how they are stigmatized.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Republican/Catholic community have always been more politically astute than the Loyalist/Unionist/ Protestant community
They homer these skills over the years of the troubles
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed...just look at prisoners, and republicans often got an education inside, whereas, loyalists got muscles and a drug habit.

The Catholic community pushed kids to go to uni and now that has paid off with a large well off Catholic middle class, many of whom.are happy in the UK, as they can be as Irish as they wish too.

The middle class Catholic did not forget their roots however, and often go back to work in nationalist areas, or represent their interests, but middle class prods often move out of loyalist or mixed areas, go to the suburbs, play golf, change their accents and forget where they came from....leaving the less educated and poorer in hard Line loyalist areas, which were already ignored by big house unionism and of course Irish nationalists.

There are exceptions to these rules of course, but as Zach points out, politically, socially, academically and economically, the Catholic and republican community are just better organised.

Could be several factors, including orange state cold house way back for Catholics who had to develop an alternative society almost.

One Catholic church umbrella scenario, where all were in one sect, while prods have different sects for every district and love to split away and be individualistic freethinkers lol.

Prods thought they could get jobs in shipbuilding or engineering so that is on explanation why prod boys are bottom of the class here, but the old heavy industries have been gone decades now, and poorer protestant kids are just not a trendy cause.

Apart from that, all is well.

Zach.

Mentioned before here that after uni I tried to get work in the commu ity sector to help the protestant working class catch up with the Catholic and republican community.

There was the Community Development in Protestant Areas and Ulster Community Action Network, but all most of us did was hold meetings in areas that are now seen on tv rioting, such as greater Shankill and upper Springfield....there were very few real jobs about and so I drifted into the civil service by accident.

There were Unionist and uda political guys involved in the aforementioned groups, but it never took off as similar groups did across the peaceline...our fault of course, and lack of skills in the community development.

We're meant to be better than that, that's ISIS behaviour.
Let them rot in a pizz stinking hellhole and maybe in a decade or two they'll seek forgiveness and redemption.

Doubtful but we're not them.

Folk like that don’t want to forgive, they’ll continue to spread their bile and hatred to anyone that will listen.

ISIS liked to cut heads off, dunno if they chucked people in acid.
