That's the problem with trying to time the cash out!

BTC hit ATH ($20k) then doubled in 2 weeks and hasn't looked close to going below $20k again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That thought is the only thing stopping me cashing in now.

The only problem is when it drops, it's too quick to react to!

Keep it in there and invest more when / if it crashes to the level you want.

I don’t understand the logic behind cashing out. There is no previous trading above an ATH so all signs point to prices continuing to rise substantially in a bull market. BTC went past double its ATH before it found substantial resistance (which I reckon will be broken any day now)

In theory ETH could climb to $3k before finding significant resistance. I mean it’s not likely but not many said BTC would climb from $19k to $42k in less than a month

Cashing out at 300% gains is never a bad thing... Just depends on your situation if you wanna keep going though.

The thing is, if I cash in now, I have that money banked in my etoro account.

If I then wait for it to crash I can then re-invest at a lower price I make the 10% difference twice!

It really depends on where we are in this bull cycle.

It could be the same as early 2017, when BTC beat it's ATH of $1k and then quickly doubled. Or we could be at the end and ready for the next huge correction.

The joys of investing/gambling!

The thing is, that's money in the pocket now guaranteed. If it corrects massively that profit is gone.

For sure, like i said... a 300% gain is never a bad thing.

Done it - cashed in 8 ETH trades in between 284 and 314% for a total of $1,385 profit.

I'll wait a bit for my BTC, Litecoin, Dash and Ada trades and see how they go.

Just wait for a massive ETH correction now!

What platform do you use?

Bit late now, but you could have just set a limit sell order at the ATH ($1440) then any continued gains would be the cherry on top.

Do most of you guys buy & sell when the prices change, or hold for the long term?

posted on 19/1/21

I hold, with the exception of selling alts for btc.

I was lucky to get in very early though, so playing with house money.

Buy & sell when the prices change because it's just a hobby and l deal in hundreds rather than thousands.

For a crypto noob like me was hoping for help. Wayyyyyy back (when I had the red and black lumberjack...) some guy at work who banged on about EOS like IAWT bangs on about ADA. (Feb 2018 this was).

Sure thing blah blah, most revolutionary tech blah blah, made up of the smartest guys in crypto.

Anyway to get I I had to put money in a jaxx thing as eth and convert it to EOS and put it into a Lynx Wallet but only through the use of a brave browser (it was well confusing I just chucked a small amount of cash in for the interest).

Long story short it’s worth like a third of what it was - how do I convert the EOS in my lynxx wallet to Binance or Coinbase? Thanks

Just etoro.

I'll wait for a slight dip now and open a $25 trade as a marker in case it goes up more and then wait for a big drop!

I hold but I have a Bybit trading account where I’ve earned most of my crypto from. Have never sold any crypto before, even for Tether.

I see a long term future in crypto, so will hold. Current money in there is not gonna break me and can be afford to be lost. So be it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I fully intend to re-invest again when the price inevitably plummets again at some time in the future.

If I'd did this twice in drops in recent weeks and re-invested, I'd have had an extra $500 in my available funds!

If you knew how to time the market, you'd be a billionaire!

There are so, so many people who tried to short crypto and ended up playing catch up though.

It's too new to say anything is inevitable. There are people who sold at the ATH of $1k in early 2017 who never could never get back on the train again.

I'm not encouraging you to buy back in though... Everyone should make their own decisions without other people trying to influence.

Ji,

Sorry to be nosy but how much in % are you in profit from your crypto investments?

posted on 20/1/21

Aside from the 7.5 btc i lost (and 7.5 bch and 100 ltc )

I'm, probably up 50-100X as of now... at the peak of the 2017 run... Maybe closer to 300X.
