I was working last night, so it was bbc coverage online for me, but by all accounts we played well, just getting caught on the break, King and Redmond especially having good games, Im thinking Braga to top the group, us or Brugge for second, depends on our results ans the braga-Brugge ones too, not tempting fate, but we performed well, and european naivety aside we can improve.

Sure, we need to put this result into context.

I am proud to be a Blues fan after watching a totally committed performance from the lads.

No fear, no bottling it, like when they played under McTwat...

However, it showed we need to strengthen our attack and our defence.

Those are the lessons learned for me.

I thought the central midfield was the weakest link. I'm not knocking, just observing.
Braga were very good at closing down as well.

I think we can do them over if we put our strongest team out. Lets be honest, the side against Braga was makeshift.

N'Daw was shocking althoug to be fair, did do a few decent passes, but was overall to slow at turning and didn't look comofrtable at running, he sort of skated across the pitch. Communication was pretty poor too. So obvious he hadn't played in a while so will get better. (I Hope!)

Ibanez was dodgy too but i think having Ridgewell next to him helped. Ridgewell always seemed to be the CB who wanted the ball and make the pass. However when Ibanez did have it he misplaced quite a few, so that's probably the answer.... He made one or two decent tackles but was a bit shaky throughout.

Elliott looked much better in CM to be honest, didn't do a lot on the wing imo.

All things being said, our strongest team, would have given them a much different game. The 3-1 score probably flattered them a bit as it was 1-0 for ages then the flurry of late goals obviously make it look worse than it was.

We created chances just weren't clinical, they were, that's the difference. Brage were playing at their best, we weren't but still had decent chances to win, with a makeshift team, no disrespect to the players who came in for the regulars.

Fair assesment imo?

very fair I think....

Im not gonna knock CH too much, because he needs to rest a small squad with a big fixtre pile up.... but I did think 6 changes were too much. I also thought it was a bad idea to rest both centre backs, and unfair to play Ibanez in his first game next to ridge. IMO, we could have rested Caldwell (older) and Ridgewell (better direct replacement) and not mixed up the back line so much, but would have rested as many players.

I thought N'Daw got better after the first 30 minutes, but generally had a shocker, and Carr (total hero normally) gave one of the worst performances I have ever seen from him... and was shocked to see the hands on hips, dawdling back into play everytime after he made a mistake. I think it just goes to show he is probably knackered and that is the area that needs cover (get Parnaby back quick!).

Braga impressed me with their accurate passing (ours was a bit poor) and their closing down. They didn't allow us any time on the ball. Having said that, I still think our 1st team could have beaten them.

So I understand the logic, but left with a feeling of 'what could have been' if we hadn't have made quite so many changes

I think we did well, we kind off got caught out on the Counter, we tried to play pretty much like Blackpool did in the Prem and they got caught out on counter often.

Yes we lost but we gave them a good game, had we had a better finisher upfront first half we could have got 2 goals but then even Torress showed yesterday that even the best can miss sitters.

We lost but we had a go and i cant complain, under Eck we would have played 4,5,1 and hardly seen any chances created but we would have gone on to lose say 1-0 or get a 0-0 but see fustrating hoofball
