No Mans Sky

I'm not really a gamer but I thought that's what No Man's Sky was - very beautiful and enormous, with detailed worlds you'll never see even if you play every day, but not much more than exploration. I could be wrong.

I’ve only played about 2 hours worth but have no idea of what the object of the game is,all I seem to be doing is mining materials to improve my ship,do I get to make some mental guns and blow shat up at all ?

Thats pretty much what you do for 20 hours chief. Its a mining and crafting simulator!!

This is a decent way to describe it

I bought the game last year and have spent a bit of time dipping in and out of it and as a casual game it is ok, if you will be concentrating on this game and only this game then you will be bored pretty quick

The good parts are the base building, space ship fights and the feeling that you are exploring the planets all alone in the universe. Theres also the fact that Hello Games are dedicating a lot of time to patch the thing and include updates to make it more like the pre- release version they promised .

The bad parts are that it will eventually feel like a grind. You mine areas, trade to get the required fuel and warp to another planet to start again, with another similar bunch of sites, native creatures that all look the same and an ending to the game that is really irritating

Most of the negative reviews are the original version, it got an almighty patch to fix a lot of it, and in doing so broke most people's games

Its a fun little casual, dip in/out game, I've been playing it recently waiting for MH:W to release tomorrow

Sorry Insert for some reason I clicked respond and it deleted your comment, Admin fix my phone.

In MHW is there a story line you follow or is it just catch all the monsters you can ?

posted on 26/1/18

There's a story line, usually a run down little village that is being attacked by one of the more elite monsters, you have to help them fight it off by doing quests to hunt or capture lesser monsters, crafting, acquiring materials, upgrading the village etc before you can finally have a showdown with it... You In mh3 for instance it then turns out it wasn't the lagiacrus causing the earthquakes after all, but an elder dragon trapped underwater, who you then have to destroy. Elder dragons have different mechanics to the lesser beasts, usually requiring the help of scenery (ballistias etc) as well as bashing the feck out of them..

This all then has the bonus of helping you to equip yourself for the online missions where monsters have double the health in each difficulty tier. You get little help in the way of supplies like paintball, traps, food, potions, drinks etc online, so having done the offline story mode helps.

Cheers for the rundown I may have to give it a go

Started playing it after sending that last message, storyline in the new one is that the elder dragons are migrating to the "new world" and you are investigating why, you head over on the 5th expedition to help explore and research the island.

The first few times I played it I found it a little meh.. Until I found weapons that work for me, then it became a blast!

That’s what I thought , I don’t know why but it’s a very relaxing game, it keeps drawing me back. Nothing exciting has happened in it yet and it’s not the sort of game I would usually play, but for some reason I want to keep playing it.

Dont expect anything major from what you are already doing EEH. From what I remember the major points of interest in the game are

Buying/repairing a ship so you can have improved storage/ weapons

Any of the fights against the flying robot overseers that escalate to the decent sized ground troops turning up

When you set up a base and upgrade it to house everything (Including expanded slots for you to store things)

Buying a freighter to transport/store goods

Activating a portal on a world

The ending...Im not going to ruin it for you but it is a massive letdown

So The Sims?

posted on 5/2/18

Subnautica is the better game by far if you want to play something with similar aims but just done better.

Way overhyped for what was released.

I have to wait 6 months for MH:W on the PC - but I'll be able to play it at a smooth 60fps in 4k
