Have the FA set a bad precedent?

If you did that to someone in the street you would be charged with assault so why did Holgate not even see a yellow card?

agree with most of it but this, would anyone really report that they gt pushed in the street by someone?

That kind of thing happens in games all the time. He would not have been punished regardless.

Racism is a serious crime and i hope tge FA throw the book at firmino and Liverpool

Whats the difference between a wall and metal and plastic? Obviously the same rules on a footy pitch dont apply, that would be ridiculous. But if someone come up and shoved some old lady over in the street with force over an obstacle then you can rest assured the person would be tried for assault.

Silly little goober. He's predicted Aubamaflop to fire Arsenal to the top of the league. No wonder he's been in hiding..

can't really compare Firminho to an old lady though, apart from the false teeth...

Either way, at any age it would be tried as assault, but anyone bar an old lady or kid would probably chase the person and try and deal with the person

It was a silly thing to do, but the ref saw it and dealt with it to an extent he saw appropriate.

Imagine walking into a police station to report someone pushed you .

Will you stop pretending footballer assaults are dealt with as they would be with actual humans?

I tried to get the ref to call the police last Sunday morning because their keeper came out for a corner and missed the ball, punched me in the neck and landed on me.

"Imagine if someone in the street ran up to me and jumped high into in the air and threw a swinging punch into my neck?", I contested.

Basically everyone laughed me and my teammates wouldn't let me come back to the pub.

Holgate's shove on Firmino warranted a Yellow Card at the very least. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Mike you should be laughed at for such a stupid comment anyway.

The difference being that your 'goalkeeper incident' would be deemed accidental but what Holgate did was intentionally push Firmino with such force he was unable to stop himself from flying over the hoarding.

What you seem to be forgetting is that these footballers are role models to our children and the message they can take from this is that it's OK to go round pushing people over with force as there is no comeback.

Whether or not injury was caused (or even intended) the action warranted at least a yellow card as did the Bosingwa incident shown above.

Not all that surprised, tbh, Mike, I’ve seen your posts.

When you tell the police, though, leave out the bit where you say “came out for a corner and missed the ball”, because that will tip them off that it was accidental

He just played the part well, I know he meant it.

Holgate shoved the referee too.

That's a red card regardless of what else happened isn't it? Unless he thought the referee abused him as well...

Depends on the ref really. Another ref, different action. Or sometimes same ref, different game, different action. Shouldn't be like that, but it often is.

I remember Angel Di Maria receiving a 2nd yellow for momentarily grabbing the ref's shirt (and the ref not actually knowing it was Di Maria that did it).

Same ref in a different game was actually cool with Joe Hart sticking his head in his face in a threatening manner.
