Nothing wrong with the club trying to make a bit of money or raise commercial interest. There's a load of hysteria about it predictably.
Don't know anything about Burma. However, if you followed all travel advice, you'd never leave Europe.
I lived in Riyadh four or five years after the compound attacks. After the initial month or so I have to say it was the nicest place I've lived in in terms of safety, hospitable locals and the standard of living etc..
-----------------------------------
totally agree with that assessment. I had to duck from a couple of explosions in Riyadh too, but I found the place fascinating, (mostly friendly - if you were respectful), hospitable and a great experience overall.
Quite an adrenlin rush as well from time to time - especially transporting home made "hooch" in old disused car batteries between compounds once a month ......

agreed....I wouldn't think twice about going if it was possible
Just another money making venture
The Team get kidnapped and the kidnappers pay us a fortune to take them back
Wonder if the Concert Party are still there to give the guys some post match entertainment while they're there ..... ????
Aye, The Sgt Major will be waiting for our "Lovely Boys"
12th March 2018 - Statement from UN.
"The Rohingya Crisis bears all the hallmarks of genocide.."
But it's alright to make money - some wealthy badge wearing industrialists said that in 30's and 40's Germany.
Now I don't call that hysterical - I call that a call to stay well clear - diabolical decision by the club.

We expect that is what would happen with our Boss in work if kidnapped.
I can't wait until we sign 2 Burma internationals
We’re just a pawn on ARs chessboard being moved. No regard for players or fans, just using the club to try and oil the wheels for his business out there when players should be recovering to get ready for the real Pre season.
"Myanmar is one of the fastest growing nations in South East Asia and is passionate about English football. They have ambitious goals for grassroots and elite football development that we are delighted to be able to support. This tour gives us an opportunity to meet new fans of football who will hopefully support our journey back to the Premier League in the coming years."

On reflection so much risk (if we'd have been caught carrying it across Riyadh) for so very little reward.
We actually started brewing our own concoction on site using apples ..... much nicer.

Very dangerous
Apples sounds almost perfect in comparison.
Sid came from bread yeast from memory.
Only ever drank the stuff when I had guests over and they insisted on going to the bar in the compound. I was on Seders, north Riyadh. Looked like 1980s America!
West Yorkshire, particularly the areas around Bradford and Leeds have massive Muslim populations many from south east Asia in countries such as Pakistan.
So let’s get those guys on board by going to a country which is systemically murdering people of their faith.
I hate our club sometimes, I really do.
I worked in converted house, in a supposedly innocuous street in central Riyadh. Commuted to a USAF base outside the city (can't recall the name), but we lived in "Brookside Close". Did a few trips to embassy and UK compounds for a couple of years, plus Al Yamana work. Rumour has it that "Sid" was extremely dangerous (I heard of deaths as a result!) - we had it several times - maybe it accounts for my lack of memory these days?!?!?!

As a Leeds fan of Muslim heritage and Pakistan background, I find this extremely disappointing that Leeds have done this. Of course, this issue should not have anything to do with religion / Pakistani or Indian, purely on a human level we should not be touring there. Just like we shouldn’t be in the pockets of Qataris for their human rights records. This will further alienate people from diverse backgrounds to Leeds Utd. But money talks louder than a miniorty.
I find it incredible that Leeds have taken this stance. This is worse than the crest fiasco. Radz sure has business contacts

The only beverage to leave me with a really sore head after one glass....
I lived in the centre of Riyadh for the first six months opposite the hospital complex. Only English speaking person there and decided to leave and move into Seders when the last three English channels disappeared.
I used to fly back for home games in those days when we were tier 3, my wife still cringes at my extravagance.....
