I do agree with Hoddle, believe it or not, on a lot of things and he was bang on when he said we should have seen the game out and brought Klavan on when it was 5-0

And before anyone says anything negative we lost a league through Chelsea adapting these exact tactics..

Letting in 5 goals would leave me very frustrated not being up by 3 although I take your point.

Seriously though Lovren needs binning and you need another top CB of equal or greater quality to Van Dijk. A panicky defender is no good and after him the next to be replaced are the goalies who are always prone to a gaff. Butland has had an indifferent season but long term he's a great choice imo.

The beauty of a player like Salah is that he forces the opposition to defend, as soon as he is off the other team fancies their chances. With a more formidable defence and keeper the effects wouldn't be as great.

You could argue that to a degree Roma scoring 2 has done you a favour as now they will have to emulate their gameplan against Barcelona. Liverpool will score at least 3 in Rome have no doubts as Roma just aren't at the same level.

No point worrying about your bench now, the players you have now are doing fantastically well.

I imagine conceding five goals is pretty frustrating.

But yeah, we do need to improve our game management.

Mourinho best at this. Man U leading against Mancity and Spur. Steady football played for only 10 minutes out of a possible 30 in each game!

Obviously scoring 5 goals is frustrating it’s the game management when momentum shifts.. slow the game down.. frustrate them.. don’t let it continue at 100 miles an hour we have conceded 4 goals in the last 15 mins of our last two games poor game management

TAke a tumble, exaggerate a sore leg we have all been watching football long enough to know this goes on and it works....

i think the roma manager will be frustrated enough after being completely battered!

Fair enough I think your missing the point.. watch real
Madrid for example
If they are 2-1 upmor something with 10 minutes to go and the other team is attacking them.. Jamie Carraghwe describes it as the dark arts of the game.. when we are out of steam and getting battered towards the end of a game.. killing momentum and slowing the game down stops the opposition scoring.. Mourinho does it against us at Anfield every time how many goals have we scored against United at home under Mourinho..?

Madrid are a poor example. If they're 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go, they'll generally be looking for a third.

Ronaldo plays for the soft foul the most out any player I have ever seen when protecting a lead it’s just an example. Lots of teams do it I think we need to learn how to do it ourselves...

If you want the perfect example it’s Mourinho I’m no fan of his style of play however he is the absolute master of killing a game and stopping and oppositions momentum.. our Achilles heal is letting in soft goals near the end of games... I don’t want it to cost us our biggest chance of a European Cup in over a decade...

Playing for the soft foul is one thing, even the defenders in Spain do that - all the fecking time. It's something I've learnt to live with but willnever get used to.

But sitting on leads or playing speculatively, that's a different matter. Madrid are incapable of doing that properly, it's not in their DNA. It's one of the big reasons Mourinho became so unpopular here and we always fell short in the CL under him.

VVL we did frustrate Roma last night, we spanked the bullicks off the for 75 minutes. Quite an extreme form of frustration I agree, but with their players shouting and arguing with each other and their manager too, with Roma in complete melt down, a high level of frustration was indeed achieved by the Reds.

No, we conceded when we started doing things slow.

We thrive on stunning the opposition, not allowing them time to arrange themselves IMO.
