This is all well and good were there not dozens of examples of penalties given for the same thing. The frustration isn't borne out of the application of the rules per se but rather the inconsistencies from referees.

Firstly, two wrongs don't make a right. There are plenty of examples of this not being given.

Secondly, there are a lot of comments on here from Liverpool fans arguing that it should have been a penalty - nothing to do with the inconsistencies.

Yes and most will be saying that it should be a penalty as they can cite various examples of similar being given so as said the frustration comes from the inconsistency. The refs obviously feel those examples met the criteria.

I know this because I am one of those fans. It's not even hard to work out.
