Seems to be a lot of 'Dark Age' Britain stuff over the past 10 years.

Strangely, I’ve never actually watched Rome, despite studying classics.

TLK as historical fiction goes, is one of the best I’ve seen. I think it stays truer to the historical accuracy and narratives than Vikings does, which is unsurprising given Bernard Cornwell is thorough unlike the History Channel.

I think Michael Hirst had a great vision in S1 and just massively strayed from it after he got handed a huge budget and the fan base blew up

Went from good seasons to good occasional episodes and then just good moments

I wonder if that’s more to do with the production company. I know it was made for the History Channel in Canada, so admit my ignorance, but if it’s anything like the American version it’s likely to be a of a joke. Say what you like about the BBC, but it’s historical content - both fiction and nonfiction - is very good.

I do appreciate the need for glamour, to be fair. But sometimes it can be to the detriment of historical narratives and accuracy.

I watched the first episode.

I don't really get it to be honest.

Boring and unfunny.

Some Marvel fans tbh just seen to be forcing themselves to say it’s great because of a few MCU references.

I think the nod to old American sitcoms is done very well which I like, and it looks great etc. But that doesn’t mean it’s fun/enjoyable/interesting to watch.

Could get better depending where it leads so can’t write it off yet but so far, meh.

So you find it to be more of an academic appreciation rather than entertainment?

Really like it.

Easily the most clever and engaging things Marvel has done in years.

I do appreciate that we are only two episodes in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ll get stuck in once we get to 5 episodes
