Haven’t watched Wandavision yet - any initial thoughts?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Really like it.

Easily the most clever and engaging things Marvel has done in years.

I do appreciate that we are only two episodes in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guess it's just the two of us who like it then

It has 97 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and 81 percent with audiences, it is really rare for audiences to like a superhero movie/show less than critics do.

But I can totally understand why - it asks a lot, in terms of caring about two second string characters, watching all the MCU films first, caring and appreciating all the references to sitcoms and Marvel, liking 50s and 60s sitcom humour, caring about the clues, waiting patiently for the plot to develop, and it is initially in black and white.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My problem is I never enjoyed 50s/60s US sitcoms. I don't particularly enjoy the humour which always feels a bit contrived and twee, which is exactly what I felt episode one was.

The only bit I enjoyed, and I don't think I'm spoiling it here, was the "stop it" bit. It was the one interesting part of the show.

Personally I was excited to see Wanda grow as a character, and I like character driven shows. But again it didn't really feel like her because of the situation.

I'll stick with it but I'm not optimistic I'll enjoy it.

I think the sitcom thing is smart as that's how a lot of non Americans learn English.

Sitcoms probably are a form of emotional comfort food for her.

I see your point, but I think it needs to move along quickly if I'm ever going to like it!

Sure I read somewhere it's only the first 3 episodes that adhere to the sitcom format (hence them being 30 mins long) but the rest will be 40-50 mins and presumably move the story along.

Hope so.

Hopefully it stays away from the CGI stuff and we get to see her character grow through the series. She has so much potential in the universe.

I am not sure, Elizabeth Olsen said they will be also referencing 1990s sitcoms like Malcolm in the Middle and 2000-2010s sitcoms like Modern Family
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm ok. Well either way I think they'll be moving the story forward quicker in the coming episodes.

Same, but if there's an underlying mystery I can get impatient.

Lost was the worst culprit there. All that mystery with no clear plan as to where it would end up.

I thought king of monsters was average too. The action was ok but they spent far too much time cutting away from the best bits and they kept showing things from the human angle. I just wanted to see Godzilla vs King Gidorah go toe to toe and the audience get to see every moment of it.

Kong Skull Island actually showed Kong going all out, in all his glory. No cut aways, no fights in the dark.

I am tempering my excitement because King of the monsters promised so much in the trailers, yet delivered barely 50% of the action.

Please can we get less humans and more monsters. This isn't a complex, story heavy movie where the human characters are integral. Most of the viewers,me included are paying to watch Godzilla and Kong go 12 rounds.
