MOS is underrated imo. Had its flaws but the action scenes were excellent and I thought Crowe was great as Jor-El.

I imagine Superman Lives would have made real money given who was attached, though we obviously have no idea how it would have been received critically.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The action is the most accurate depiction I have see of super power beings fighting.

I also loved the conflict and lack of assuredness superman had. I know Reeves always portrayed that symbol of hope but Cavill was more relatable for me. Some great scenes in that movie too, such as the iconic first flight. Oh and how could I forget, the score is one of the best I have heard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MOS had everything I was looking for from a Superman movie, thought it nailed it. Especially after the totally lacking in any action Superman Returns. Sadly it polarizes opinion.

how dare super powered beings break stuff
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That isn't the point though is it? The point is it was monotonous and uninteresting and then seeing a big kissing moment (which the movie never earns as their relationship is more frigid than a pre teen disco) in a destroyed city with presumably hundreds of thousands of corpses was just not what a lot of people want with a Superman movie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The final battle was far from monotonous and unonteresting in my opinion. It's actually exactly how you would imagine two alien beings with immense power to collide. The collateral damage was perfect for that scene.

Mainly because there battles were limited to one small area and they weren't fighting superpowered beings om the level of Superman and Zod. I think it's unfaie to compare captain america and Hawkeye shooting down henchman to what MOS did.

I dunno it was very good choreography to switch between low level stuff and like Thor & Hulk as they did

They should have introduced Darkseid more by now.

BVS & JL were too empty and shallow in terms of the villains.

I had similar issues with the battle in BvS. I also, and I know this is heresy lol, found the third act of Endgame the weakest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually agree. Infinity War was notably better IMO.

They did Tony’s death well but the end battle felt rushed.

You're talking about Joss Whedon's JL though, that's nothing to do with Snyder and clearly we are getting at least some Darkseid in this "real" JL movie.

Superman Returns had the contrasting issue of insufficient action. The plane sequence was awesome. Saw it in the US and audience members stood up and started applauding lolYanks aee weird!

But aside from that it was very dour and plodding.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The movie had style and Routh was a good Superman albeit a bit too similar to Chris Reeve. Completely lacking in action apart from the formulaic plane scene. I found it weird that it was supposedly meant to take place in the Reeve Superman timeline between the events of Superman 2 & 3. Or something to that effect anyway. Very strange.

Yeah I agree which is what should have been released. The MCU successfully created a world and built something.

Each DC movie just feels separate and unrelated.

Just like the modern Star Wars film (sequels) disjointed mess after disjointed mess.

DC are like Man United currently: play in moments, produce moments of really quality but Marvel are like Man City just delivering an overall special package throughout.

I was underwhelmed by the look of Darkseid in the trailer. Not even in the same league as Thanos.

I've always thought this but it makes me sick to compare something I love with City

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the movie although it's a shame we can't see this movie on the big screen or ideally in an Imax where it's meant to be seen. Maybe we will at some point.

I prefer the snacks analogy - Marvel are Oreos mass produced but tasty, fun and a reliable treat.

DC is a pack of Quality Streets - some are great, some are absolutely dire.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually typed out a pizza based analogy but changed it at the last minute.

Supposed to be on IMAX this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll be going to rewatch it if it is. Unless it's a bag of sheite of course lol. Not sure what watching a four hour movie in the cinema is like though. Presumably there's a nice long interval halfway.
