Jonny, I think its time to let the Americans in on a secret, a Football is round!..

I hope nobody suffers a severe attack of headache after realizing they've been playing a well protected version of Rugby!..

I know LIW, I’m just worried that AR mishandles this and were left with a club that will never have a chance again to compete at the top level.

All I have heard is ticketing, branding, stadium, retail, what a shame no one has talked about the actual football and trying to gain promotion.

posted on 24/5/18

I suspect it is largely about those things. The curious thing is why AR is selling 10% of the club. Could be a positive step aimed at generating investment or could be that he is short of funds.

Given the choice I’d rather align with an outfit who’s been successful rather than a stadium-moving merchandising bandwagon whose team are as sh*t as ours! Feels like the last kids to be picked for the playground kick about are joining forces because no/one else wants to be friends with them.

But enough about me.

The money’s nice and all that stuff is important in terms of creating a viable entity in the modern sporting world BUT when it is the objective rather than a side effect of the objective, then it’s a concern. Be nice if someone came in and said... “our strategy is to invest to get this side in the premier league... and off the back of that we’ll then do all this commercial stuff that lines our pockets and gives us a semi but the fans don’t give a sh*t about.

Kinnear was on radio earlier saying the money will be used to try and get promotion.

Proofs in the pudding obviously but it has been mentioned

Ironically, due to the protection they wear, American football players seem to have an air of invincibility about them which enables them to play in a way that is more dangerous and leads to more severe injuries than rugby, especially brain injuries.

Helmets just do not protect the brain from severe impact which results in the gray matter jiggling like jelly and crashing against the sides of the skull.

Needs a casino, supermarket, crèche, hotel, more conservatories and something American/Italian......

If there's any room afterwards, we might be able keep the pitch.

After we complete the renovation we'll move to where the M621 meets the M62 and groundshare with Bradford City.

We won't have a Fans Forum and the new badge will have a logo representing the 69ers.

Sorted.

Rich, was talking about the 49ers, but what Kinnear actually said was:

"help us from a transfer perspective this summer"

"amount which is going to certainly help across the summer"

"their main focus is getting Leeds back in the Premier League which is our focus"

Sorry, but he couldn't be more ambiguous if he tried, it means nothing.

At no time did Kinnear mention that this money would be used to try and get promotion.

Does anyone read it any differently to:
- the 49ers have acquired a 10% stake in Leeds United.
- In exchange they will contribute 10m into the club (as opposed to paying it to AR).
- The 10m will be used during the summer to acquire. players.
- The goal is to acquire players whom will contribute towards the club getting back to the Premier League as fast as possible (is that good enough or does it have to be season specific, within the next one to be acceptable?).

Apart from the fact we aren’t sure of the actual amount of dosh I agree. Will be minimum £10m I think.

Paraag Marathe, the 49ers' Vice President of Football Operations, told USA TODAY Sports that proceeds from the team's investment will be used by Leeds towards the purchase of new players as the club seeks promotion from the second-tier English Championship to the highly-lucrative English Premier League.

"49ers Enterprises has bought a shareholding understood to be around 10 per cent of the Elland Road side and, as part of the deal, president Paraag Marathe has joined the board."

If its 10%, that should approximate 5m, not 10m.

It depends what they value the club at. Talk is it’s between £10 & £15 million investment.

Why should it approximate £5m ???

He bought the club for nearly £50m, in a right state from Cellino.

I can understand the deep pessimism, given the past decade or more.

However it has remained true since Bates (and before) that a hard headed businessman ought to want us promoted. They don’t have to be a fan. The income of any Prem club dwarfs ours. Most businessmen investing in something want an exit strategy and Leeds with its fan base with an established Prem place would be worth far more than today’s club.

Trying to gouge money from a championship club while conning the fans you want promotion is indeed a strategy, but it shows a distinct lack of greed. I am reluctant to accuse any owner of this.

The problem is that every owner of a championship club can see it, so there is a risk everyone overspends and the dilemma for an owner of Leeds is how much you can gamble.

So I see the 49 ers cash in this context. Whether it means we will spend enough, whether we will spend it wisely, whether what we have will be well coached and whether we have just a bit of luck ..... or not ..... are still questions.

''we will use the money invested to buy better players that the leeds fans want and need''

'' we need to mount a promotion challenge, we fell away after christmas last year, it wasnt good enough'

Doesn't that equate to the club being worth about £80m, not sure but about average for a championship team, less than Villa and a significant amount less than most Premier outfits. Not sure how club can be worth that though if we make losses year after year.
