If I had a choice I would go for Alex Neil. He is a logical choice.

Stoops- if Heck goes, as he only arrived last few months we are effectively writing off £500,000 we paid Barnsley. Bad business by Radz and co.

I think he probably looked on it as a gamble worth paying. They expected him to take us back into the top six. Worth the risk?

In the scheme of things it’s the equivalent of a 10k a week player. That seems a lot but put it against going up and it’s minuscule.

My head says he’s going and my heart has very little feeling for him. He just hasn’t endeared himself to many fans at all.

If we are going to have a real go next season then we need better. I think we might go for a smiling Italian with a gruff voice.

There's too many good managers available not to act Imo. If not we'll be manager less in October and needing a new one with most if not all of the decent ones gone

posted on 27/5/18

Sorry Shaun but where are these "good" but, interestingly, available managers going to go?
Not sure the answer is to fish around in the ex-West Ham bargain bucket.

posted on 27/5/18

Like I said a week or so ago. Still better than what we have. Everton and Derby will no doubt get 2 better managers than us.

posted on 27/5/18

Might be better than what we have but we need a manager who is the future not one whose days have gone. These guys are available for a reason.
Dean Smith, Alex Neil, Neil Harris, Tony Pullis all have a decent track record, Pullis wouldn't come but I reckon at a cost the other three might.
Most of your list wouldn't get us up and some would have us staring at League one by Christmas (Moyes).

posted on 27/5/18

You think Moyes is a past it manager and yet you think Tony Pulis is the future?

Neil Harris is doing well because of who he is managing, and I wouldn't want Dean Smith either. Alex Neil is the only decent name you've suggested.

Mind you, anyone who thinks Pulis is the answer but thinks Ranieiri, who won the PL three years ago, is past his peak has to have their understanding of football questioned.

posted on 27/5/18

Pullis is a decent manager, West Brom should never have got shot, my problem with Moyes is he is a cr@p manager, neither current nor past it, just cr@p.

Pulis will get Boro promoted next season.

how far is 66 year old going to take us Lubo, get real. Long term project. He will be well over 70 by the time any project comes to fruition. Future got to be with younger managers surely.
Actually, I think the future is already with us in Carlos Corberán. Done wonders with the kids. No experience though

Not saying that we should appoint Moyes. But Pulis is only six years younger, and plays a similar style of football. Moyes wouldn't necessarily take us down, as you suggested.

I'm on record saying I'd like to see us go for Alex Neil or Lee Johnson. Would take Ranieiri though.

Think some managers go from job to job and when you look more closely they really haven't done very much. The day we appoint Hughes will be the day I think the board at ER have totally lost the plot.
Not sure what Moyes reputation is built on, since Everton he has lurched from one disaster to another. Shaun said he was better than Heck but there is no basis for that given his recent record, likewise Pardew.
I wonder whether people want shot of PH so much that it clouds their judgement as to who is likely to get us moving in the right direction.
There is no evidence to suggest that any of the current crop of unattached managers would do a job.
Be careful what you wish for.

most managers employment records are not that good, they've all been fired many times. i agree with you elsbels, we have brought in name managers before that were unable to get it right. warnock for example but i would take a chance on ranieri. at least to get us up.
give him a couple of years to right the ship. just don't feel heck is up to the task.

posted on 27/5/18

I don’t believe Heck is going anywhere anytime soon. If he was, he would have gone by now. I don’t see any hard evidence from anywhere that suggests Heck is about to be fired. It’s all speculation and Chinese whispers. But.......we live in hope!

posted on 27/5/18

Me neither Peak, the board have been cynical in their timing of previous two managerial appointments/dismissals why change things now.

posted on 27/5/18

Yeh, I reckon it’s all speculative bollox, Elsbels.

Heck’s on holiday, unless AR is an utter C....I don’t see anything happening at least till heck gets back and even then I think he’s not going.

Of course, but to get rid when someone is on holiday is really low.

I agree with a lot of the comments. Mark Hughes name makes me shudder, partly because he would fail, partly because it would mean our leadership were clueless.

I find looking at how a manager does, relative to the squad value, is a useful insight.

On that basis, one of the stand outs in the championship was Mick McCarthy. Not the only one, another who overperformed was Colin - what a pity he was never Leeds manager

Cardiff have no expectation, demanding fans or pressure

Leeds have all 3 of those making our job a lot more difficult. Teams raise there games against us and don't against Cardiff plus other teams are better ran off the field than ours, hence why Colin struggled with us.

Collectively, the Leeds job is one of the toughest in football.

Agreed

Colin’s main problem was the owner imho

Yeah, leeds fans are the only ones who want to get promoted and Leeds are the only team others want to beat.
