Dont agree with him on his political views though, but he seems smart and a decent guy
Ben shapiro is a fackin caaant though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What don't you like about shapiro?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His views on abortion, gun control, taxation, racism, feminism and Islam.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What views on racism and feminism do you not agree with? Only as those are what I mostly see him speak about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On racism? His belief that African Americans don't face systematic social injustice, his 20 minute rant trying to justify Trump calling Haiti and some African Countries "shiiiitholes", his thoughts on the NFl protests (saying they should have stood for the anthem), blames black people for them having lower grades and a higher crime rate as if that is because of the colour of their skin, not because of a large proportion of them come from terrible situations, believing white people dont have an advantage.
On feminism? I feel like abortion falls under this, but also him saying that the me too movement celeberated female indignity, believing that women dont experience some form of sexism on a day to day basis.
Im not a crazy feminist and I dont have as much of a problem with that per say, but his other views are too much for me. He's a racist.

Islam as a religion is very violent and intolerant.
Muslims on the other hand, are just normal people like me.

I have already given you multiple explanations as to what you THINK is violent and intolerant about Islam on other threads.
Are you going to make me do it again?

It worth noting that Newman set herself up to fall by essentially having some pre-scripted set of questions that she was unable to deviate from because the person she was interviewing didn't hold the kind of views that she thought they did, so ended up making a fool of herself. It made Peterson look all mighty and smart (and I'm not saying he isn't bright), but for me it was more to do with Newman being atrocious rather than Peterson being brilliant.
Hippo/Melton, if you're still hear, would love to hear a response to my Q a few posts above.
Berba,
I caveated Chomsky with to an extent as I haven’t followed him much over the last decade, but I didn’t particularly like his book on Kosovo. I remember agreeing with the gist of what he was saying, but I found it too one sided in its critique and a bit sensationalist as a consequence.
I’d have to read it again to give you a decent explanation though as I’m only going off the feeling I had after I read it, which was about 15 years ago now!
Which book is that Melton?
He has over 100 books!
Military humanism I think? I have it somewhere!
Just to add, part of that will also be personal preference. I’ve never been a fan of strongly opinionated authors, I tend to prefer that in shorter form, as I always need to read the counter argument myself too.
Ah, The New Military Humanism.
I don't have that one but am reasonably familiar with the case and extremely familiar with NC's work more broadly. That book comes highly reviewed and I'm familiar enough with the general theme:
- The Nato bombing was not 'humanitarianism' at all whatsoever, despite how it was and is still sold to the public.
- The bombing actually precipitated Serb atrocities and was not in response to them (the timeline to this day is completely inverted), as predicted.
- The US & UK were actively supporting & carrying out *vastly worse* crimes at the same time as their 'humanism' in Serbia, eg the "genocidal" sanctions in Iraq, support for Turkey's massacres, support (though soon ended) of Suharto's genocide in East Timor etc...
I tend to find NC as the complete opposite of sensationalist, indeed, I find him rather dry, personally.
Yep and I remember thinking at the time that it felt like Milosevics actions were downplayed and so although I didn’t disagree with the sentiment, I didn’t like the way the argument was presented. Like I said, I’d need to read it again though.
Will he fit in the orthodox "Back 9" Mourinho philosophy?
