The calm before the storm. If only we can find 3 21 year old Portuguese players and we will be flying. If not...will a few from Chelsea do? Who knows who wants to play for our Frankie and Jody.

Am I the only one that thinks Wassall should be part of this cull? I like the bloke and have nothing against him but the youth system isn’t working and to have produced so few first team players something needs to change.

Your probably not the only one to think it Tommo but your definitely the only one mental enough to commit your thoughts to paper.

In all seriousness it's up to the first team manager to take on the risk when trying out these youngsters.
Clearly it is part of Mel vision as each manager has been told to use the kids. However none of them have and have preferred to bring in seasoned pros to get the quick fix to get us up.
Clough was the last one to do it but that was out of necessity and it delivered Hendrick and Hughes.
There are some gooduns in there and hopefully Jody Morris will cast his eye over them and get those worthy, moved up.
Morris has motivation here. His kids at Chelsea had even less chance of making the Chelsea squad than ours do of making our first team so with him as assistant manager of the first team and his passion for bringing the young talent through I believe that Wassall will find it easier get his kids air time with the boss men.

At least I hope so.

For me Wassall's record with the kids stands up pretty well so happy for him to stay.

They've all been sent to Stoke (is that better or worse that being sent to Coventry)?

Question is did they go or were they pushed, (and who cares)?

And in other news Lee Grant has signed for Man U as their 3rd choice keeper....

Nice work if you can get it

Tommo, I agree with you regarding Wassall. He’s been in charge of the academy for nearly 9 years and what has the academy produced in those years? Hughes! What has it produced currently that’s pushing for a place in the 1st team? Not much!

+1

Wassall coasting towards his pension, keeping his nose clean, but not pulling-up any trees in the process.
