Fecker never dies that for us though
P.s how the hell with all the talent Argentina have upfront does Higuain still get a game
Only scored because he was stood near Messi
He lived by the sword, could've also died by the sword in the penalty box earlier though
Still - A superb late volley saved his team the blushes
tbf, he's still a sheeiiiite defender!!
-----------Masch---------Banega-------------
---Messi---------Icardi---------Dybala---
-------------------Aguero--------------------
Argentina clearly have an unbalanced sleection of players, but why not embrace it and just pick your four best and most inform attackers, give them the freedom to do whatever and tell the rest to just focus on keeping a damn clean sheet
Argentina saved by their star man
^ Because Argentina's defence is absolutely garbage and playing a front 4 with 4 strikers massively imbalances the team.
Sorry, that comment was meant for Bailly_Lindelof_

______________
and playing medicore players like Pavon, Meza and Perez has given this Argentina team balance?
If you can't control the midfield and you can't defend, you're strikers are going to have a bad time

That Pavon looked decent when he came on and he is very young
Who was that Meza bloke that came on? He was utterly woeful. Came on instead of Dybala or Aguero. The manager is clueless

You say this, but Pavon and Meza (the former in particular) looked far more menacing than di Maria did, who is supposedly one of the best wide players in the world.
I'm not saying they're top class players, but you do need a balance in the team. To play 4 strikers in LW, AM, RW and CF is a recipe for disaster IMO. Especially when most of them have the tendency to move into central areas, and not all of them are useful at tracking back.
In any case, the problems aren't solely with the Argentine players as individuals; tactical set-up and instructions (or lack of) from the coach are hindering them too.
I don't think you have to play four forwards, even if I understand they want/possibly need a physical presence in Higuain. I reckon Dybala and Icardi would link far better with Messi than either Aguero or Higuain.
But they lack quality in cm with Masch not having the legs. Be negative is a good player but after than they're in a bit of trouble so I was surprised at the 442.
It's tricky but Argentina have never has balance. You could name a list of amazing forwards as long as your arm just in the last 40 years but central midfielders? Not so much.
Benega* is a good player. Dunno what happened there.
If Messi hadnt scored, Rojo would have saved nothing and no one.
Messi made changes to the team, Messi held the talks in the break, Messi was brilliant in the first half, Messi scored the all important opener and it was a beaut.
Messi singlehandely guided Argentina to the next round

Icardi at #10 and Dybala on the left wing
Bad vibe about Argentina. Can't see them, or Spain, kicking on. But who will?
Messi's opener was cancelled out, Clog wearing Donkey. Rojo > Messi.
Robbing - Argentina have had great midfielders in the past. It was one of their strong points. But they have not had anyone develop to any decent level recently. Benega is 28-29. Other than him, you can't see a player that can have control in the midfield. His pass to Messi was great. Some might say Pastore, of PSG, could have been taken, but he's stagnated there and would probably not flourish in this side as he's meant to be an attacking midfielder.
Their other players seem to either be average or past their best. Their wingers aren't great either (though some are young, so could develop). Defence is average and the same for goal keepers.
This Argentina team doesn't compare to past ones.
Messi was garbage in the second half
