Don’t think anyone is underestimating Sweden.

Think Sven is overrating Sweden too.

Arrogance, this is why everybody hates Sweden.

I am sure that Sven Goran Erikson is completely deluded right now.

Pretty strong statements from Sven and some other guy I've never heard of.

Hope we hit em for 6, but in reality we all know it's going to be a tight, drab affair. 1-0 England.

We might struggle to score goals against Sweden, but Sweden struggle to score goals full stop, so I don't know where Sven is really coming from there.

posted on 6/7/18

Fact is Sweden are not that good,Sven is talking his usual mumbo jumbo ,they are just a team of big heavy defenders who only know one way to play, hoping that they will get a chance on the break.
England will put them in their place by 2 clear goals.

I think we'll go through, more comfortably than we did against Colombia. Fucck off Sven.

Outstanding comments from our Scandinavian friends.

With confidence like that, as a neutral you can't help but wish them good luck.

Let's just hope football* is the winner on Saturday.

*by football, I mean Sweden

Funnily enough, it was a Scottish man who set them off by saying England would beat them 99 times out if a hundred.

Didn't England only beat Sweden for the first time in 50 years in a recent game?

I made the argument the other day on here that Sweden are England's natural peers at international football, with an almost identical competition history and an extremely even competitive record.

Sweden are to England what Panama are to Scotland then.

That doesn't really work for a multitude of reasons, not least because we do not have similar international histories and, to my knowledge, we have never actually played each other.

Although I suppose we should have a deep dislike for Panama due to the Darien disaster which ultimately led to the Act of Union in 1707.

Tomorrow afternoon the comments from some will be:

England won because we played the weakest Sweden team in many years and it proves nothing etc.

If England lose we will have been beaten by the weakest Sweden team in many years and we are this and that etc.

Can see some of scene points, England are not as good as they think, but neither are Sweden. It’ll be a tight game, but England should have enough to book s place in the semi’s.

England's threat at set pieces should see them through.

I expect a fairly drab encounter between two relatively unadventurous teams who lack the creativity to break down stuffy defences - which both of you have.

I can see the logic behind your opinion, Ivan.

While England have been considered one of the big nations, compared to the likes of Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, and Spain, their record at that level is just a notch higher than Sweden.

Sweden have a game plan - a way of playing - a way of winning. England should beat them Am I 100% confident of an England win? No! never! England and the phrase "shooting themselves in the foot" go together very well.

It's probably more an indicator of England's underachievement (imo) and Sweden's overachievement (again, imo) in the international game

Yeah, we had a weird record against them, no wins from 1979 to 2011, I think, which took in about 12,games, we’ve only beaten them twice in 15.

Talk me through your argument mate. Lay it out for me. Show me the facts that make this undeniably true.

Are those quotes real?

Some of it just sounds way over the top to have been said by a professional footballer
