Not keen on keeping players that dont want to stay. He might think that running his contract down gives him more leverage on wage demands though

Courtois is the best of the keepers mentioned in the original post, and the team will almost certainly be weaker when he leaves, no matter who replaces him.

Great plan in theory but it all depends on Courtois not just wanting Real!

Sounds like a good plan IOAG, but it’s not as simple as that. Courtois is on his last year contract, and CFC hands are pretty tied. Courtois said that he is prepared to run down his contract and leave for free next season, if he doesn’t get a bigger contract (allegedly £250k per week) or let him go where he wants to go.

I mean no disrespect to Atletico Madrid, because they’re a great club, but If given a choice he’ll pick RM every time.

Firstly, players ambition is to reach the top and you won’t get much higher than RM, hence a more attractive proposition to top players. Secondly, at RM he would get a much bigger wage package than at AM.
