Yeah, but they're not 'mericans so don't matter so much
BTW, I checked it out today, super typhoon is a category 5 hurricane...nothing stands in its way...
You might well be right. But in terms of the storm...
"Mangkhut made landfall in far northeastern Luzon in Cagayan province about 2:30 a.m. local time Saturday. It has maximum sustained winds of 270 kilometers per hour (165 mph), with gusts as high as 325 kilometers per hour (200 mph), the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane.
"All things being equal, Mangkhut is a bigger, stronger and more dangerous storm" than Hurricane Florence, a Category 1 storm battering the US Southeast coast, CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller said. "Any land hit directly would see more significant and destructive impacts from the super typhoon due to its size and intensity."

Very scary, the only thing I will say about "Florence" is that the winds are not the problem, it is the very slow moving nature of it that is dumping two or three feet...of rain...plus high tides and storm surge etc.
At least the Americans were given plenty opportunity to evacuate beforehand, doubt many in the Philippines had that chance..
I’ve being to the Philippines, tin roofs don’t stand a chance and they, if possible have someone more bonkers than trump in charge
Manila is not for the faint hearted, going to the Muslim part of the island is just dumb, look up Cotabato city.
Btw rain is a beautiful thing.

It’s not the word that matters really
More the colour of the victim.

As much as I detest what you have written - you are 100% correct.
It has a lot to do with infrastructure, the west evacutes, the Philippines don’t give a feck about their people. That’s is the difference!!
I have a couple of buddies who do shop fitting for some of the big stores they were in Virginia Beach, the job got closed down and everyone in that town got told to go 100miles inland.
Although many in the Carolinas did not. over 300 rescued so far and hundreds more waiting for rescue...

Honestly, if you've been told for over a week that you need to evacuate and then choose not to, I think the resources should go elsewhere when you end up standing on the roof of your beachside home as the hurricane arrives just as you were warned about.

Should be a large fine for anyone that requires rescue after being told to leave.

I can accept that there'll be folks for whatever reason may not be able to evacuate. But seeing folks on the news this week saying "well just ride it out" while jumping on their surf boards to ride some killer waves, and then seeing people having to be rescued from atop their beachside condos pisses me off a bit
Lots of humans are idiots.
They are all out to get the philapinos
The Filipinos are tough, resilient and wonderful people whatever happens they will bounce right back, their positivity and zest for life is a thousand times stronger than any storm that nature can ever conjure up.
Having lived in Cebu,Central Visayas for two years I've seen it first hand,oh and the women are stunningly beautiful also!
The 'Muricans will complain that their second or third car got damaged!
