Well one thing is for certain - Herb Dean needs to stop officiating. So many times the fight came to a complete stand still and he just left it. Serious 1st round nothing happened yet Dean leaves them on the floor, 3rd round as well big pieces of nothing happening and no work......

And yeh who ever that guy is in the red shirt if he is anything related to the UFC he should be fired now - yellow bellied little chicken sheet.

I have no issue with the handbags and all but that was pathetic vaulting into the ring and going behind conor

Disagree.

Khabib worked hard to get the takedown in round one despite some commendable defending from Conor. Once he had him down, he was pinning his legs together and trying to manoeuvre into a favourable position whilst draining Conor's gas tank. Conor was still fresh at this point and he was doing well to keep Khabib from advancing. There is no chance Dean would stand it up especially considering how crucial the ground game is to Khabib winning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But that was the thing Conor had brought it to a standstill, don't get me wrong most the other time he was working hard, but when you are tied up like that if you can't progress the fight needs to be stood up, and we can't protect Khabib because it's "part of his game".

Conor was tying up the hands and Khabib was trying to get his free but at no point did Khabib simply lay there doing nothing. He was working for positions but found it difficult because of Conor. That's not a reason to stand them up. The only valid reason for standing them up would be if it was just a lay and pray for 30 seconds or more and this certainly wasn't.

The fact that it is part of Khabib's game means that the ref is likely to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his high level grappling ability. Dean knows what Khabib can do and he knows he is't just a lay and pray type of fighter.

With BJJ a lot of the time you're gonna wait for the guy on the bottom to try to sweep,or just move so that you can counter with an arm bar, triangle choke,Mata Leão/rear naked choke or another submission.

McGregor got mauled, just the same as everybody who fights Khabib.

Strangely, Khabib was even able to stand and trade with Conor. The few good strikes that did land, Khabib walked though and came back stronger.

McGregor has again been humble in defeat. There isn't a McGregor fight that hasn't been exciting, he is good for the sport.

Don't let his very deliberate stunts get you pal.

Love how McGregor takes on all challengers. He must have known that there was a very good chance that the fight would pan out exactly like it did with Khabib doing what he always does to every opponent, but Conor still took the fight regardless. And after a two year absence to boot. That's bravery. And he's still talking about a rematch despite getting demolished.

The overly personal attacks in the build up to the fight and the ruckus after it was just awful though. From both camps. Although Conor clearly the instigator.

i like mcgregor but he's done, not because he is past it or there is a problem physically, but he looks like he can't be f...ed anymore.

he's more about promoting the fight than actually fightingm,he was blowing out his erse in the first round.

Khalib shashed him because he was right up for it.

Conor had very little say in what was happening when Khabib had him grounded. Khabib was trying to create opportunities the entire time it was on the ground. It was Khabib that was tying him up. Conor had next to no say in it. If both fighters were in a similar position and no one was workgin to create something then they should be stood up but Khabib was tying Conor up and working constantly. conor did well to last as long as he did whilst on the mat.

money is the problem...Conor can rinse guys where he drains massively and is in turn bigger, that aint nice to do and also gets harder to the heavier you get, the older you get and the more money you get.

Conor is at his oldest and heaviest now so getting down to weight is near impossible or extremely difficult and unhealthy now. Plus he has multi millions in his bank account now so the incentive to go the extra mile in training camps and prep to get that low in weight. So he cant bully smaller guys anymore and the big guys can take the power. As he has got bigger and more muscle you can see his stamina has been affected also.

He bagged £100m with Mayweather where he knew he'd lose and nobody would even care. Getting back to UFC fighting the best is hardly brave when he has already secured his future ten-fold.

I commend that he does it because he enjoys the craft (and it doesn't hurt to make additional cash) but most fighters need to be cautious of losses because of the effect it would have on their future purses and brand.
