I'd say it's more of a strong arming tactic from Dana.

He's telling Jones that he should take what the UFC give him or they will go with Lewis vs Francis. Before the fight, Dana threw in Jones name as a way to make more people watch it. Great bit of promotion from his standpoint but Dana's a salesman and I take anything he says with a pinch of salt.

If you cannot take him down, you are going to sleep because nobody can take his shots

This Guv. The guy is a beast.

I can't see how anyone can beat him at this point.

Obviously this is mma and one shot changes everything but he has a CHIN!

I don't know what Jones is thinking. It's been a long time since he took anyone down and dominated them. I don't think even the great Jon Jones can strike with Ngannou. Jones gets hit in his fights but he has a fantastic chin. However, this is Ngannou we're talking about here

Ngannou beats Jones for me. I wasn't impressed with his striking against Reyes and he hasn't been wrestling for a while. He has an iron chin but these guys at HW are heavy handed and Ngannou just needs to land one to end a fight.

However, I will say this, if Jones some how beats Ngannou, he will become the undisputed GOAT.

Maybe after a rematch.

He beats Ngannou twice then he's the goat.

I thought Reyes should have at least got a draw in that fight. I speculate that if Reyes had been the champ instead of Jones he would not have lost his title that night. Jones has been taken over the line by the judges in maybe a couple of his fights, controversial but that's my opinion.

Jones hasnt looked good for a few years, was lucky to be handed the wins in his last couple of fights imo. Vs a hungry, very mean looking, and hige Ngannou I only see it ending badly for JJ - JJ done well at his weight because he was often the bigger man (ofc very very skillful too), Stipe looked small in there........

Great fight for Leon. He gets to showcase his skill against a tough and popular fighter.

Big mistake by Dustin in my opinion. We still do not know the full story but he should have taken the title fight. I think conor beats him in the 3rd fight.

posted on 2/4/21

But he'll still get a title fight at some point, whether or not he loses to Conor.

Also, I'm not so sure Conor will win. 50-50 for me. Honestly it's possible Conor is done with MMA and he doesn't know it yet. Losing to Justin twice should make him see the reality. But if he wins it could be a great revival of course

posted on 3/4/21

If he loses to Conor, he would have to win at least 2 more fights before fighting for the title.

If Conor wins, I bet they do him vs Oliviera/Chandler for the title and then hist first defence would be Nate.

posted on 3/4/21

The last fight was competitive and if Conor makes the adjustments for the leg kicks, he should bear Dustin. I fully accept that Dustin is a lot better than many thought, me included but Conor hurt him in that rematch, which tells me that Conor can definitely hurt him in the 3rd fight. Either way, it should be interesting.

posted on 3/4/21

Perhaps but Conor fight is a rubber. Unless Conor is champ (they've fought too many times) then Justin gets a title fight anytime it can be arranged, IMO.

Have to admit I don't have faith in Conor anymore. He's "let me down" if I can put it like that. If Conor wins I'll be a bit surprised but not disappointed.

The only fights I have ever got a Conor prediction wrong were:

Aldo
Nate 1
Dustin 2

Unless you have high level wrestling, I will tend to pick Conor. Styles make fights.

Whittaker again showing why he is one of the best UFC middleweights of all time. Continues to beat the toughest guys and even after losing, he comes back stronger. Easily one of my favourite fighters in recent years and certainly one that I respect significantly.

Adesanya vs Whittaker 2 next.
