Best thing that happened to him was go on loan to West Brom. It made him realise that he had a part to play at a big club or could let his career drift.

The obvious reaction to that is that Chelsea walk away feeling as if they've been defeated. Daniels goal, and in particular the timing of it leaves us feeling as if we've won. Obviously we haven't, we've dropped two points, but for us, that doesn't come into the equation.

I think the top three, City, Chelsea and us we be there at the end. That's the best game of football so far this season.

To early to say who will be top three. Spurs will be in the mix, they usually are. It is only September, a lot can happen.

His contract is due after this season and magically he is fighting fit all of a sudden.

Wasn't too early to say who would win the league though

Sturridge has been absolutely garbage for a long time now, to be fair.

He has been in the wilderness for about three seasons. There was no immediate and obvious replacement for Suarez (could there ever be?) and Sterling needed the money.

His fitness situation(?) brought issues of his character to the fore, with Jurgen openly challenging it, with it was real or imagined pain.

I don't think for a nano-second that his contract and the remaining time played any part in his thinking. Last season, even if he had been fit, can anyone imagine Jurgen dropping any of the front three to make way for him?

Yesterday's goal was world class, it will give him, no doubt, a magnificent boost to his play, and for our benefit.
