I’m probably his biggest critic on here and he was terrible for the first half but he showed great character in the second half and I can only doff my cap to him. He’s played better in recent weeks and Jose is beginning to warm to him again so hopefully everyone concerned benefits from what we know Martial is capable of

He looked a different player because we actually attacked and threw players forward. That is where martial excels. Won the free kick for the first and good link up play and strike for the second. That was more like the martial we know, just needs confidence and to be actually played consistently

It's probably because when he saw Mata coming on he wasn't the one substituted.

Every attack was going through him at one point. Our only plan was to get the ball to him and hope. He makes something happen.

One thing is for sure, he links better than any of our other attackers and on his day is devastating. Jose should be working to tune as many of his poor days so his good ones.

There might something in the “3rd sub” idea, but we also played with pace, movement and tempo, which helped all of our players going forward.

Martial was excellent and we know he has this in him. LvG got more from him because, for all his faults as a manager for us, he trusted his young players.
