We looked less assured defensively last season, and Vertonghen is a better defender than Sanchez.

I agree with Ledders. Our injury list is a concern. Vertonghen it seems will be out with a hamstring problem for a couple of months. Eriksen has abdominal muscle problems and has been playing hurt - may also be out. Rose is out with "minor injury", whatever that means - not in England squad.
Add to that the obvious fact that Dembele is not in the form he used to be.
And now we come to the Levy disaster!
Sanchez is a work in progress, unreliable at times,
Aurier is nowhere to be seen - why?
Thank God we still have Alderweireld, who levy wanted to sell! Where would we be without him now??
This what I meant be a "thin squad". A few key injuries and we're up shat creek without a paddle, thanks to Levy.
Will he buy in January?

Yeh well Verts ain't fit is he. And Toby wasn't for most of last season. So it ain't rocky science to say that Sanchez will be playing.

Verts and Toby only have one more season left in them as a partnership in my opinion, so Sanchez will then become the Number One.

So why did you want to see Alderweireld and Vertonghen in the team ahead of him then? Are they better than Sanchez?

Got too much of a youth obsession. 31 and 29 is not old for CBs especialky as good as they are.

Not disagreeing a young left footed CB should be on the list, but this is a forever growing list. We have at least 4 areas to address before this.
