He didn’t though. He inherited a team that finished either 5th or 6th the year before and immediately took them backwards to 8th and has barely taken them forwards to 4th last season after three years.

Klopp thrives at clubs without pressure.

He would have crumbled at United, plus with his preference to develop players rather than spend big would have gone against the grain at United.
-------------------

All wumming aside, I kind of respect Klopp for sticking to his morals. Perhaps it was that he didn't fancy the pressure. However, I would lean more towards the fact that he is a bit of a romantic at heart. What he did at Dortmund was a real achievement. To overcome the money and power of Bayern is a real challenge.

I think that he wanted to do the same at Liverpool and take them back to the glory land, without having too much expectation on them and perhaps doing it without spending a fortune. However, the reality of the PL has probably struck home and he has realised that if he is going to win the PL then he is going to have to spend big too. With so many teams capable of winning the title in the PL, it is a much tougher ask to win the league without matching them in the transfer market.

Klopp is far too classy a man to manage a club like united.

Yes. United as a club has no moral fibre.

Ok then. Won’t push you for details as you obviously can’t be bothered to provide any.

I think Liverpool was a much more suitable fit for Klopp than Utd. They were in a very similar mould to his time in Germany, the underdog, lower expectations and his character and football style is enough for both sets of fans.

In hindsight, we'd all have loved Klopp, but had he joined us, played nice football and won nothing our more demanding fans would probably have complained about the lack of trophies.

I reckon Klopp would have managed to overcome the likes to Ajax and Southampton tbh

About Klopp?

Okay, I can't stand his pretentious laugh he does during interviews, him running his fingers through his hair all the time, thinking he's Mr Cool when he swears, he doesn't half think he'll do

He's a prat

You think he's self involved because of his laugh and running his fingers through his hair?

Oh bobby.

Strange article.

"Jurgen Klopp has revealed he was approached by Sir Alex Ferguson over succeeding him as Manchester United manager, but turned down the role as the timing was wrong."

"Klopp was unwilling to consider a move to England as he was already planning for the 2013-14 campaign with Borussia Dortmund and United subsequently appointed David Moyes as Ferguson's successor."

Fergie himself approached Klopp. The mancs must have really wanted him.

Klopp was again offered the job after Moyes was sacked and still said no.

Was he also afraid of following Moyes

The other reality is that if Klopp were to leave right now, LVG & Jose are more successful on paper, they've won 3 major trophies between them.

Can't say it's been overly enjoyable as fans but Klopps time at the club as of today will be seen as a failure unless he turns that around.

Post Fergie United fans are happy enough with top 4, don't kid yourself.

In the real world Klopp only won 1 of his first 7 games against Southampton, losing 3 and drawing 3. They knocked you out of the League Cup that year too.

The season we won those two trophies you bombed out at home to championship Wolves in the cup. What makes you so sure he would have beat them?
