I reckon Klopp would have managed to overcome the likes to Ajax and Southampton tbh
------------------
In the real world Klopp only won 1 of his first 7 games against Southampton, losing 3 and drawing 3. They knocked you out of the League Cup that year too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but not with Utds players unless you think Liverppols squad was as good as Utds in 2016/2017.
Considering he had Utd, Dortmund and Sevilla rather than Celta, Anderlect and Ajax I reckon he'd have had a good shout in the Europa run too.
We'll never know though will we.

What is ‘a club like United’?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A club that lacks moral fibre

Care to explain?

Yes. United as a club has no moral fibre.

Ive already said.
Well feel free to focus on the LC but the Europa runs were very different and I think you know it.
Southampton games caught us at a bad time tbf and they gave Utd a run for their money too. Pretty sure the ref helped Utd a good bit too in the final if memory serves.
Liverpools defence vs Southampton in the LC.
Karius
Clyne Lovren Klavan Milner
Dont miss that tbh

Ye, it would have taken a super human effort to stop Jay Rod.
At the moment I'm happy to admit that I'm a little envious of the football they are seeing at Anfield these days under Klopp. However, there will come a point where LFc fans will want trophies as well. I know they could be considered a little unlucky that City have Pep and look outstanding at the moment but there are other trophies to play for too. I think winning one is vital for LFC. I'd say that's the same for Spurs as well as it's easier to get going once you've got the monkey off your back.
What Klopp is seemingly doing this season is more sensible though as he does seem a bit more pragmatic but with that comes a bigger demand for trophies IMO.
The season we won those two trophies you bombed out at home to championship Wolves in the cup. What makes you so sure he would have beat them?
======
Simple.
Because he would have had a better squad.
Next!!
Also, we had Europa to navigate on a smaller and inferior squad and results against the likes of Southampton suffered.
United had a title winning squad, CL football (easier to manage) and the refs are always there.
That was a different season.
However, if we were going to compare first season cup runs (as both clubs reached the same finals)
Liverpool - City and Sevilla
Utd - Southampton and Ajax
If that makes Jose some kind of mastermind in comparison then fair enough.

But it's alright for you dippers to boast about beating goat herders and farmers in the European cups in the 70s
Oh, and by the way Robbing, we couldn't have met City in the League Cup final as we had already knocked them out in Round 4.
Don't agree with the original premise " that Klopp turned down the Utd job because he was scared of following Fergie."
Don't think Klopp's scared of anything. Not in his character. Would love him at City when Guardiola leaves, but I suspect he's going to be at Liverpool for years.
What goat farmers and herders?
We beat the best teams in the continent and in the world by extension at that time.
20 years from now when Chelsea are in league two, you won't say United beat fodder for their 3rd champions league trophy, will you?
