Some of them have options to extend, right?

Steven Davis has already signed for Rangers.

Milner should get another season at Liverpool, even if not playing he offers a hell of a lot of experience. Possibly Kompany for similar reasons at City.

Aside from them maybe Pereira at United although can only say I know the name not how good he is.

I’d like to see milly get another year but think he may well go to Leeds if they come up!

Get Herrera and Pereira signed up quick. Maybe one more year for Young. Let the rest go.

Hasn’t Diaz just joined Real for 15m?

Nows your chance to swoop and get Danny Welbeck back.

ARSENAL

Aaron Ramsey
Danny Welbeck
Nacho Monreal
Petr Cech
Stephan Lichtsteiner

That's about 400-450k p/w in wages of players who aren't good enough for any side looking to challenge

Monreal and at a stretch Ramsey are acceptable squad players though

For once it's a positive we have contracts coming to an end although it would be great if someone bought these guys in Jan to recoup a little extra money

The real question here, is how long it would take the club to replace the talent lost. We're talking about 4 leaders on the pitch with bags of experience in this league, any of whom would not look out of place on any Arsenal lineup.

This is a massive demand on our scouting system. I'd consider the club very lucky if they managed to find like-for-like replacements for each of these players within 3 transfer windows.

That's a really bleak appraisal and I completely disagree.
If we can't scout improvements on these guys then our scouts should be sacked.

Monreal we might miss but he's 32 now, I'm not sure how much he can offer long term.
Ramsey may be worth keeping but it would be as a squad player and at a fraction of the wages he wants - good riddance.
Lichtsteiner was a pointless signing, we can do better.
Cech is too old now, great pro though.
Welbeck isn't good enough, never has been. Nice guy apparently but that's pretty irrelevant here

I honestly can't see why you'd be remotely fussed by losing these guys. We can do much better

I'd agree with all of that. Arsenal must do better if they want to challenge for the title. Ramsey is decent, but inconsistent even now in his prime. I'm a bit surprised at the trams he is talking to, but perhaps his consistency can improve with better players around him? Maybe he has stagnated and needs a chance. I'll be interested to see how he gets on wherever he goes.

These out of contract players always sound like a bargain opportunity for other clubs but they rarely are.

Sometimes if the player has deliberately run down their contract then they are still at their peak but these are often the big stars who will want a bigger club.

The ones where the club has let their contract run down are often past it but on high wages and then demand high wages at the next club which can have a destabilising effect on players.

The other thing to bare in mind is those wage increase rules we were coming up against (I'm fairly sure there are workarounds to that btw but that's for another article).

Freeing up the wages of 5 less than top quality players is a good thing.

Wouldnt mind Luiz from that list if im perfectly honest. Better than smalling and Jones.

Surprised Milner and Monreal are on there. Can see Kompany leaving, he has lost it. Mangala 35 mil flop aswell as Carroll.

Fack me Lindegaard is still playing ?? Baines and Giroud could offer alot more to other clubs.
