"Sometimes we can't compete - maybe we should trust the young players'"

He’s wrong in that we could compete if we wanted to. But he’s right in that nobody should be paying an unproven 21 year old 300K pw.

This
It's absurd beyond believe.
Kid gets paid more than Suárez, Aguero, KDB, De Gea, etc
I love how trusting the young players is said like it's a threat. Maybe you should Pep, it's not as ridiculous as you seem to think

Another 1.4billion should finally get the CL for them.

Good one 😂
I'm all in favour of lavish spending, which is why I think at today's game it's time for my annual overpriced burger.

Always have to bring it down to this level. No need.
Cup of tea in the City Cafe for me.
Our spend since 1993 has been £1.4bn but because it's City, we'll say that's what we've spent in the last decade.
SAF used to be trolled for buying the league with sky money when our netspend from 1986 to 1998 was just £4m.
Most of the squad SAF won titles with had cheap players and youth players. Just because we broke the transfer record doesn't mean we spent a lot. Many clubs massively outspent us in the 90s. If I remember correctly, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea were spending a lot more than us. Funnily enough Blackburn didn't spend much but one or two transfers and were talked about buying the league. Nowadays even if you factor inflation club like Man City are spending 100x that on squads.
One of our worst transfers in our history was selling Ronaldo for £80m. I said at the time selling him for £120m would be like selling him for free and we should have sold him for £200m at the time. We also got Pogba back for so much so we also have ourselves to blame for being so out of pocket.
Fergie inherited the countrys' most expensive player (Bryan Robson) and replaced him with Roy Keane who was also a record signing.
City have yet to break in the transfer record in the Premier League era.
Boris Man Utd net spend from 1986 to 1998 was £4m. I am pretty sure likes of Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool were spending tons more than us in same period. Most of our squad in the 90's was youth players or extremely cheap signings.
Its always funny people think Man Utd success was down to doing well with SKY money when PL started we won it but the reality was we had the lowest squad costs to win it.
Man Utd winning the league in the 90's squad cost wise even with inflation was cheaper than Leicester Citys title winning side.
Fergie was never shy of spending a few quid especially to the detriment of a rival.
Under SAF our net spend in first 6 years in PL was probably the lowest in the league for sides to finish top half.

Instead of high wages, clubs should have given expensive birthday gifts like City to keep Harmony between the players.
