Such fees are never paid at once but money paid is money lost

I’d imagine they’d have to get money through insurance somehow

They’ll have insurance.

Weren't there reports that the pilot wasn't licenced to take passengers? In which case, I can't see an insurance company paying out over that.

It would be extremely poor of Nantes to not split the difference in a situation like this. That would be the right thing to do.

I'd be surprised if they didn't tbh.

They're going to create a go fund me page.

I read that the total deal was worth £29M including the contract and that Cardiff would only be insured for the transfer fee and that they would still have to pay his wages to Sala’s family over the duration of his contract. So basically they are down £14M over this

Wasn't he travelling to Wales to have a medical? So there was no deal.

There has to be some legal clause for this. I think otherwise when an employee dies, his employment is terminated.

Not always. If you die during the execution of your work duties or get killed directly as a result of your job. Everyone's family is entitled to the money they would have earned or a portion of it. It can be sued for but given he's a footballer, I'd assume his agent had some sort of claus on his contracts to make sure his family still get paid. I'd think it's S. O. P for any footballer going overseas.

I'm still trying to figure out why the had him coming over on some rickety little plane that couldn't even make it across the channel. Shouldn't have skimped on the flight.

Well no, every footballer will have life insurance taken out on them. Even I have life insurance so if I die my wages will be paid out to my family for the remainder of my contract and beyond I believe

It may be actually that the insurance covers the wages and the £15M they spent is gone. But they are definitely down a lot of money

Don't you think all this is pretty tasteless.

Who cares. Cardiff is owned a billionaire.

Well yea probably which is my nobody mentioned it but I did wonder about it myself when I first heard the news.

Cardiff smashed their transfer record on this guy and can’t even get special dispensation from the PL to have their transfer window extended. That’s pretty tasteless imo
