The problem I have is that Spurs fans using the word simply begs other fans to also use it.

Say Spurs are 1-0 up with ten minutes to go and all the fans are happily chanting "Y 1 D Army".

Then they let in two goals in five minutes.

At that point the opposition fans could feel entitled to chant something like "the Y 1 Ds are sh*t".

It's dangerous.

If you sing the word then you cannot have a go at another set of fans using the same word. Its not rocket science

Yeah if they sing it then white people are allowed to sing it too. You can't make a song and then expect certain people to not be able to recite it

It is a really difficult one. I abhor the gas noises, Hitler stuff and would never personally use the "Y" word. However at risk of repeating myself if Spurs fans sing ""Y" army" then opposition fans will feel entitled to sing "the "Y"s are sh#t" or similar should they play badly. And that has awful meanings.
