Imagine the board didn’t give the job to Ole and gave it to Zidane and he loses his first game at OT. There would be protests and rants aplenty 😂
Now the club is trying to take a different approach - a more 'traditional approach' if you will. They realise the importance of an actual structuring
———
This remains to be seen.
Maybe the key word 'Trying' should be emphasised to the board
My point of contention was realising the importance of actual structuring. Trying to take a different approach doesn’t mean they’ve realised the importance of the former. It’s my main problem with the club. Hopefully you are right.

I think when you listen to all the talk from the players about the freedom to attack, however, especially Pogba - our prized asset and a big reason for Mourinho’s departure - you’d think they would have learnt something.
-------
#MUFC vice chairman Ed Woodward:
“If I can answer very simply and candidly. Playing performance doesn't really have a meaningful impact on what we can do on the commercial side of the business."
Never forget, Daz.
Oh I haven’t, Arab. But maybe he took note when Pogba told him “I’m leaving unless you get rid of this defensive caaaaant because I want to play football.”

Different minds go through different methods to get through to the same outcome.
I mean this from the United board's perspective. They've just gone about it in the wrong way, but at the end of the day - they are now wanting (hoping) for the best for this club. And this includes restructuring - however oddly it was founded.
It's not complicated, OGS does not have a stellar managerial track record. He is a short term turn to signing. The results since he came are more down to Mourinho going than him coming. Utd couldn't possibly think OGS is a genuine long term option. That's not how it works.

All managers with a potential have to start somewhere.
We’ve already tried and failed with 3 managers - two of whom were supposedly proven in the bigger picture and the first one was proven in this league alone.
We’ve spent big and wasted big money but none of those 3 managers came with a philosophy that really complimented this club or benefitted it.
The only manager that came closest but ultimately was still off the mark was LVG with a focus on youth.
Ole as everyone knows is United through and through. An iconic club legend who happens to have some managerial skills. Because of this, he will be afforded some extra breathing space to do his magic.
This time round we are trying to stabilise the ship the right way, with the right tactics on and off the field.

Maybe Woodward isn’t as marketing savvy as we give him credit for.
There’s a direct correlation between playing performance and attracting new fans. There’s often a correlation between playing performance and success. Global brands won’t pay absolute top dollar to align with mediocrity. Foreign football fans won’t be drawn to United over our competitors if the product is found wanting on the pitch.
I think it's obvious that what ole has done so far has more substance than an interim manager feel good run of good results
What I find bizarre is that there are some who are surprised that Ole wouldn't be a better manager now than he was at Cardiff five years ago or that that he wouldn't have actually learned from it?
Imagine if, in whatever profession you're in, you suddenly have dealings with someone who you used to work alongside years earlier, at a time when you were very junior. Wouldn't you be somewhat miffed if that person assumed your capabilities were exactly the same as they were when he or she last worked with you?
Ole has done a better job with players Jose bought than he did.
That is a damning indictment of his management
Jose never really tried to connect with the club or the city
You could argue he came into the job himself with the mindset of an interim manager
There are two separate things in play here. One is how bad was Jose? The second how good is OGS? The answer to the first is that he was astonishingly bad, a sort of a black hole that drained everything in its proximity of motivation. The answer to the second is better than anyone thought - genuinely amazing what he's got out of some of the players. He's saved you guys from another botched Woodward appointment.

Hard to argue with that. So I won't.

This is actually the best description of Jose's time with us that I have seen.

a bit harsh on black holes tbh
Some ungrateful United fans being overcritical about Jose but don't think that some antics of Pogba were also a disgrace despite a scowling Jose Mourinho.
Ive said what I think about the weasel players that downed tools under Jose many times before. Both them and Jose a disgrace
I don't think the players downed tools. Its the awful tactics.
You don't keep coming back and earning wins/draws like we did if the players have downed tools. It was a poor tactics. Once we went behind and had to chase the game we actually looked better.
Several posters on here kept questioning why we looked so bad and only started playing one we were a goal or two behind. It was down to Jose and his tactics.
