I am sure that after his brain damage diagnosis, there is a newspaper headline saying "Rocky Retires" meaning he officially retired in Rocky V. They even said Union Cane won the vacant belt.
The biggest problem I have is why did his son get 5 years older, you surely can't expect a 8-9 year old (like he was in Rocky IV) to be smoking, staying out late at night with his girlfriend like he was in Rocky V.
Rocky's son being about 12 or 13 as he was in Rocky 5 makes no sense because Rocky 5 is set directly after Rocky 4 meaning it's still about 1985. Rocky's son can't be any older than about nine years old in 1985.
Anyway the timeline in Rocky doesn't make much sense. The mistake the franchise made was ever putting dates into the movie. For example at the beginning of Rocky 1 we're told it's 1975. Then in Rocky 3 we're told it's 1981 (from memory) from Mick's headstone.
personally, controversially, thought creed 2 was better than creed 1. Havent seen all the films either.

I finally watched Creed 2 and here are my updated Rankings

Creed 2 was really disappointing (minor spoilers).
- I found the main couple really boring.
- The villains were ok, but were not used very well.
- Mrs Drago was brought in and didn't even get one line
- The music wasn't as good as any of the previous movies including Creed (2015).
- I keep hearing about Apollo, but it was very half-hearted, Adonis has never really found out much about his Dad in either movie
- Having actual boxers as the opponents hasn't made for very compelling characters. This has been happening since Rocky V.
- The movie seemed very derivative of all the previous sequels
Yeah some decent criticisms although I thought the Drago's were the perfect villains and you also see things from their side as well. Just a couple of poor guys from Ukraine trying to do something, in Ivan's case trying to get redemption as well.
I agree that there isn't enough about Apollo in either movie apart from a few lines here and there about how great he was etc. Apparently Ryan Coogler and Stallone were talking about doing a flashback scene in one of the Creed movies where we see a de-aged Stallone and Carl Weathers.
Maybe they can do something like that in Creed 3 which Michael B Jordan is going to direct. By the way you really hate Rocky Balboa don't you lol. I thought Rocky V is the worst in the franchise by a long way. Even the slightly improved director's cut.
V is by far the worst IMO with Creed 2 not too far behind!

I think the villains were decent yes, I'm glad they showed a different side to Drago, I heard they were going to have a scene at the end with Drago, son, Rocky and Adonis, I think they should've kept that in.
I think a de-aged scene between Stallone and Weathers would be great, I would love to have seen that.
With regards to Rocky Balboa, what I don't understand is that the critics of Creed and Creed 2 keep saying that the movies lack originality which I agree with 100%. But I feel that Rocky Balboa (2006) suffered from the same problem. Maybe if I watch it again I might appreciate it more.
V is by far the worst IMO with Creed 2 not too far behind!

Good scene, should've definitely been kept in the final cut. I would've liked to have seen Ivan Drago to even say one word of remorse for what he did to Apollo particularly to Adonis.
That's a great scene. Is there a cut of the movie with that scene in it? One of the cut scenes I've seen is where Rocky and Drago come face to face in the hospital and start fighting. I wanted that in the movie as well.
