Who would Mbappe prefer to play for?

Ajax or City? Who would you bet on winning a CL most over the next few years? Ajax or City?

City aren’t just rich from their owners, they’re also bringing in huge revenue and have the best manager in the world

Why did Neymar join PSG? Why did Guardiola choose Man City?

It’s not just money, it’s more than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It helps though.
Great article Wahl by the way
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s part of it but we all know guardiola would never join a club just for money and I think the same is true of Neymar. They are established prestigious clubs now.

And thanks

I couldn't with a straight face put a club who can't fill a 60,000 stadium in a top 10 of world's biggest clubs

Uh. It was for the money.

Every club Pep's joined has a domestic advantage on the financial front.

Isn't Neymar on a £500k/week wage packet?

Pretty sure it's a massive factor in their decision. Why would Neymar choose to leave a side that's regularly winning European and domestic trophies for a club that cannot go past the QF of the champions league?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn’t just for money. It was also to be the main man at a prestigious club that could realistically win the CL

And guardiola? At city just for money?

I'm not denying that VC, however the success they've been served up has only come within the last decade.

.....................

You can only go so far back in history with this kind of article. Otherwise, on your criteria you would probably have Wolves higher than City.

So you think Guardiola would join a club just for money? I doubt it. It’s the whole package and money is part of it but not all of it.

I think “big club” and “currently have a good team” always seem to get confused in these types of debates, also what constitutes a “big club”.

Fanbase? Celtic are bigger than City but aren’t on the list. Recent success? Why are Spurs and Liverpool included but Leicester aren’t? History? So Everton and Villa should be on the list, etc etc.

Exactly. United or Real could finish mid table every season for a decade and win nothing and they would still be at the top of the list.

Because it’s not just one factor. It’s a combo of all the factors you’ve mentioned together.

I don’t think so, I’d imagine Barcelona for one would be above them at that point. Juventus and Bayern too.

If he's the best manager, he'll bring home the bacon, in saying that he's had managership handed to him on a plate really, hasn't he.

Put him in charge of a failing championship side for a season...see how good he is then

“I didn’t change history to recent history, I was taking more about how good the teams are currently/trophies.

Liverpool were a fallen giant for almost a decade id way. They’re coming back up but they haven’t gotten there just like that after a couple of good seasons.”

And again I said that Chelsea beat us on recent trophies won. The other criteria they don’t. So I wouldn’t say they were bigger than us.

Yes. Your OP and reasoning is sound. Obviously my top ten is different, but so will everyone else's be, as it is purely subjective.

35/60 gets you in top 10?
4 defeats and a draw gets you 8/10 for how good you are currently?

Interesting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's recent form, over several years Tottenham have built themselves up and currently Champions League quarter finalists. I'd say their prestige as a club currently is at an all time high probably.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
probably is. but that doesn't make them top ten. id put sevilla ahead of tottenham.

I wasn’t solely referencing the OP, but “big club” comments and conversations generally. I know you’ve included a combination of different things.

I still think Spurs have done well to creep in there though...
