Another example of our poor recruitment

It does seem to be a concern that we haven't unearthed a lower costing gem from somewhere like we used to do.

There are a lot of very good players in the PL currently who are of an age where they could well kick on an extra level. We don't seem to have plucked any of these sorts of players out from either the continent of the lower leagues.

I can't say I've seen Pereira at LB for either Leicester or Porto, but I think there's consensus on this board that recruitment has been poor on many levels.

It's also interesting to me that we have an ex-player of ours playing at CB for a team on the cusp of a CL league final, whilst we still have Rojo & Jones on the books.

Exactly. The likes of Rojo, Darmian etc. should be long gone but we aren’t ruthless enough. City got rid of 4 full backs in one summer.

But he was friends with LVG...

I'd imagine Jose didn't like the height of Periera. Sad but true. Either that or Leicester simply got in there before anyone else and got the deal gone early.

I was actually thinking the same, whilst watching him last night. But if we'd done that, we may not have had the funds available to give Jones and Young new contracts 👍

It’s not like he was an unknown either. An international and Champions league player.

In fact Dalot was lesser known.

I really wanted us to get him too, and was surprised that Leicester got him, for such a good price too. Above poster is right, he wasn’t entirely unknown. Performed well for Nice and Porto, full international in a competitive (for RB) Portuguese squad, all at young age, had a reputation is a good young attacking full back..which he is.

How on earth did we not pick up Tielmanns on loan in January either? We sold Fellaini and he'd have been a welcome signing on loan with a view to permanent signing. I bet we're even looking at him now too which makes it even more annoying.

Really rate him, great going forward.

To be honest our best signing the past 3 years has been Lindelof, somebody I slated initially but is now the only defender I feel could be part any success we may have.

Shaw I'm still split on, but the majority of our high value signings haven't worked out. Matic, Pogba, Shaw, Sanchez, Lukaku, Fred, Martial. They've all been mostly unsuccessful to date.

Sea we miss all the obvious targets for some reason.

Our club would literally be better off if we'd scouted using FM.

Seems to me the biggest issue at our club is Feckless Ed. Couda, shouda, wouda....all day long with that chump. Cut out the cancer and maybe the rot will stop. In the meantime other clubs seems to get what we used to rate.

Thought this was odd at the time. We were buying Porto's reserve RB whilst Leicester were picking up their's and Portugal's first choice for £2m more.

Not convinced by him yet. Very Varela-esque without the tenacity. Will likely serve to be a useful utility player for us though.

Dalot is a pretty terrible defender but has a great right foot on him.

Certainly not good enough to be our first house RB yet.

Shaw needs replacing or benching and knowing he’s a bench player unless he sorts himself out.

Someone tell him he’s playing for United not his local pub team.

To be fair to Shaw, he works harder than the majority of our players and normally covers well when the opposition counter.

I can't be fair to him after watching that, he's one of many that need to improve their attitude and take a look at themselves.
