"It's all very well saying a good manager can turn it around ala Klopp but a) they dont have one"

Ridiculous to judge Ole at this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes crazy to judge a guy with league one tactics who precided over the worst form in living memory. Crazy!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep.

You have absolutely no idea how he'll do as a manager - none of us do.
----------------------

He also has the record for best start at a Pl club and has earned more points per game than Klopp did in his first half season. Lets let him have a preseason and make a few signings before judging him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Im judging him now as I feel Ive seen enough. Sorry.

Judge away. It won't stop most from thinking that your logic is flawed. Far too early to judge a manager who hasn't even had the chance to get in players that he thinks will better suit his tactics.

Good job for you that the LFC board weren't so short sighted.

Another question for United fans, especially ones like TopLad who put stuff like this:

"Spurs fans getting big for their boots after a couple of higher placed finished.

At least we've won a league title in this decade. Spurs won't be the same level as United. You haven't won anything of note, I am hoping you beat Liverpool in the CL final, but if Spurs fans think they're a bigger pull than United and act like this...

Your wage structure isn't even close to ours. The most you've spent on a player is £42mil, not even half of what we bought Pogba for.

You've not even won any trophies in the last 10 years to compare to what we have won. Last year we finished 2nd don't forget."

___________________________

Well, as most of us logical folk have deciphered on this post, we're pretty much at the top of our 'ceiling' at the moment, we're doing extremely well. It remains to be seen whether we will invest to push that ceiling higher. United already have a higher ceiling, but are currently 'on the floor'.

So are we not meant to be happy with how we're doing? We know our wage structure isn't as high as yours and out record transfer isn't even half of yours. Is that meant to be a dig at us? I'm damn proud of it, for one.

We're in a Champions League final. In all likelihood we won't be in one again for at least the next five years, because it's a cup competition. Forgive us for being a bit excited about that?!

posted on 17/5/19

Decent discussion ruined by Liverpool fans again.

Shame.

Anyway, interesting times ahead for both Spurs and United - if United can get back to being a well run club as Spurs have become, then we'll certainly be in a healthier position.

Robbing, out of interest, what was your assessment of OGS's tactics (not his general ability as a manager) over the first 10 games or so?

Obviously, the wheels fell off alarmingly later on - and time will tell whether that is symptomatic of Solskjaer being out of his depth or the Mourinho hangover / long-term mismanagement catching up.

For the time being, what interests me is what kind of strategy OGS is setting out. What he articulated from the outset, and what was largely reflected in those cathartic opening victories, was a much more aggressive, proactive, pressing game as a basic approach, combined with some quite thoughtful shifts in formation and team selection, game to game. I didn't hear anyone deriding that as League One tactics.

Obviously, it's all very well planning to play a certain brand of football if you can't make it work. (I've always suspected that David Moyes' masterplan looked great on paper.) You may be proved right next season. Just interested in how a semi-wumming opposition fan genuinely saw the intent behind OGS's football at the outset.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to posts like the one you're replying to.

Most United fans I know are full of admiration for what's happening at Spurs and wish you well for the future, because of how you're run.

Absolutely you should be enjoying it - CL final, beautiful new stadium and a manager who I think it a bit of a genius.

Kenny hadn't properly managed a team for 13 years and was basically retired. As great a manager (and man) as he was, his time had passed when he took back over at LFC. Strange comparison.

What I think may happen, Potch gives one more season to Spurs since there are no clubs that will really interest him this summer.

Ole has a good window but fails to get results.

Potch goes to Old Trafford and United dominate for a decade.
