This may sound disrespectful but I honestly couldn't care less about this competition. Let the youngsters thrive in it, but I want us solely concentrating on getting back into the CL next season. This competition is a hindrance.

Could be our best way of getting back into the CL.
Rather win this comp and finish 6th than finish 4th and win nothing

Beats going to the same old boring places each year <wink>
Genuinely think the EL will be our best route back into the CL. I hope we play strong teams in the league and EL and bin off the domestic cups. Winning them would be nice but next year with EL football which is very demanding we could do without cup runs.
I don't think we should be dismissing any competition we're in next season. We'll be one of the favourites and if we enter the 'brave new world' we hope to see under Ole a trophy would be a great boost to our young team.

If we try and be competitive across 4 competitions we will fail miserably. We are nowhere near ready for that.
I'd excuse a poor FA Cup and League cup campaign for one year if we did well in the other two. We could easily win the EL if we went for it.

What I mean is that we can't be picky. We should have enough quality to navigate the EL group stage with our squad players and then we can see where we are in February.
Dismissing the EL would be quite daft IMO but any trophy is better than nothing.

I'm not saying dismissing the EL. I'm saying the two domestic cups.
We need to fight on two fronts next season. Top 4 race and EL. The domestic cups would be nice but ultimately be our downfall. The EL will already test our squad as it is.
The Europa League shouldn’t be dismissed. It’s a good trophy to win and has the added bonus of a CL place.
Also it shouldn’t be underestimated the value of European experience for the manager and the young players, even it it isn’t the CL.
The season hasn’t even started yet, you can’t just say bin off all these competitions before a ball has been kicked, it’s a stupid attitude to have - and one I’m sure the club won’t have.
Rather win this comp and finish 6th than finish 4th and win nothing

Normally yes, but next season I dont think I would.
Cup wins can be fluked, but a top 4 finish would represent genuine progress.

The arrogance of this comment, especially in light of the way you just finished the season.
Winning trophies is the very best way for Ole and the younger players to start to become serial winners like the teams we’re trying to catch
The 2006 league cup win was massive for some of our players. Never turn down a trophy especially if it gets us back into the CL

I was under the impression you thought we would be closer to relegation.

Same old crap ...
".... blood some of the youngsters ......" garbage
Precisely part of the problem of the past 6 or so seasons. Introducing, and destroying, players that either were not good enough in the first place or couldn't handle being strong in a match that was a struggle.
Bring in real experience, talent and character from the other premier league teams - there is plenty out there
The reserves are for preparing younger players, not real and important competitions. They can step up when they are ready, the club should know when to bring them in.
Besides, getting the league form and standard sorted out is the top priority.
We should be aiming to win all the cups we compete in. None if this prioritising nonsense
bloodred, it depends really. We could have fluked top four this season if the cards had fallen, but I get what you are saying.
Level of performance is going to be just as big an indication of our progress as league placing, for me.
But we do need to get back into the CL, so the Europa does represent another opportunity to do so. As Arsenal and Chelsea have shown.

They’ll probably win the CL and with how well they’ve done in the league they can be called serial winners in the sense they seem ruthless in winning week after week
Think us going for every trophy we can realistically get will help us reach that goal.

.....
Good grief.
Interesting how both Ajax and ourselves progressed after the Europa final in 2017
I don’t think you understand the meaning of the words serial or winners.
I wouldn’t disagree too much with winning trophies being a good platform, however, it’s not fundamental to building a team capable of challenging - as serial losers Liverpool have shown.
