I don’t agree, I’ve watched a fair bit of Newcastle and he’s not looked particularly impressive. Granted, Newcastle are terrible, but he doesn’t stand out that much.

I get people want to sign young and hungry players, I do too, but they also need quality and I just don’t think this is the kind of player that brings the quality we need in midfield.

He looked good in the games I saw him IMO... Scored a worldy in one of them too...

He definitely seemed to have more to his game than grafting, that's for sure.

In fairness, none of us have seen enough of him as the highest level to come to any firm conclusions...

Youri Tielmans is the one we should be going for in midfield. He was quite impressive for Leicester this year and would improve out team greatly

The last young, really hungry player we signed was Luke Shaw. Hunger is one of his biggest attributes.

No
We have the odd good youngster but overall our youth team really aren’t that good at all

Garner and Levitt are the two most highly rated cm’s. Levitt has just been called up for Wales.

Like the James signing I’m all for it as long as it’s not the main and only signing in that position.

for all those fans who have seen woodstaff, can you tell me how he compares to McT

I never rated McT under Jose but I have grown to like him a lot over the last few months. Nonetheless, I do not think we should be getting in cm of a lower quality than McT.

Better long ball and shot, though he probably gets a lot more practice because he plays for Rafa, but I’ve not seen much to suggest he’s much of an upgrade, it at all. Both are still young and have room for development. But midfield is still arguably our biggest problem area so I think we need far better than both.

I read something a couple of weeks ago about OGS. Can't remember where it was or who said it, but they talked about Solskjaer preferring to play a 442/4222.

We've seen it a few times this season. It would lend itself to 2 quite mobile workhorses in the middle of midfield and a combination of pace and creativity on the wings.

Would let us see what Rashford and Martial have as a pair.

Gomes and Garner are the two midfielders who look most ready.

Gomes to play as an eight - he'd be a perfect backup and apprentice to Pogba for me - and Garner in DM.

Hamilton we might get a look at preseason. The others are probably a bit further away.
