Kessie at least scores the odd goal. I reckon he'd be enough to tide us over till the summer. Or Wijnaldum. I thought the internet was convinced Winks 2.0 had arrived after the Liverpool game anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We need 4/5 CMs in the squad and with Ndombele & GLC likely to go we need two more in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Long term yes I agree. Thing is, that's probably not realistic in January and when's Son back the 343 makes more sense.

We won't get anything from the big games with 343 and current midfield options

No idea if kessie is any good really though and probably will be injury prone when he joins or have an attitude problem

Everyone is injury prone once they join us

Part of the worry with Conte is that he is someone you want to back - but at the same time leaves your squad in a bit of a mess. But has any team above us signed anyone?

the top 3 are well set

and i think now Arsenal are better set than us as a squad aside from upfront, and Man U have better players.

we needed to be proactive and its been 24 days without anything happening, aside from selling our best player in the PL2

does he leave squads in a mess? bit of a myth, Inter are still the best team in Italy and our squad is already a bit of an unbalanced mess.

i dont think its as bad as some make out but i see there to be clear holes that can be addressed to really elevate it but the club seem to see it differently

Why do you think that? Aside from being overly emotional after a setback

He does, a lot of good players get kicked out due to personality clashes & some who are brought in are almost immediately brought in as deadwood. He’s not terrible for it but there are always some question marks.

think what? about Arsenal?

younger squad, clearer path into first team for the youth, had a better summer window (Odegaard, Ramsdale, White, Tomiyasu all improve them) and have turned up in some derby and bigger matches, less passive etc.

not much in it and for us to be better but seem to be going in the right direction whereas still not sure what spurs strategy is,

Seems very reactionary, they’ve had a few good youth players come through due to the absence in quality from the first team. 2/4 the signings you listed have been successes, I’d say we have also had two successes as well.

We are on equal points with a game in hand, a change in manager and early season implosion under Nuno. I think we have so much room to grow with both the current squad and personnel who can come in and instantly increase the quality.

Looks like it'll be a straight shoot out between ourselves, Arsenal and United for that 4th spot. Going to be close. There are pros and cons for each team.

If we had managed to get a draw versus Chelsea we'd be talking about 2 spots between 4 teams and we'd have been in the driving seat I believe. Would have made a big difference.

ive thought it for a while only cause i really have a problem with them and its a big problem if they are good again. all their signings are in their first XI is my point i guess.

we have one of the best managers and two of the best forwards in the world though which is probably why

lot of the points picked up have been unconvincing to fortunate.

'I think we have so much room to grow with both the current squad and personnel who can come in and instantly increase the quality.'

this we agree on, but it doesnt seem likely through the current recruitment process.

Why not? We have signed good players for the managers they were signed for since the new stadium - we just haven’t had a manager worth building a side for.

I don’t really get all the doom and gloom, it’s the one game a season that’s a write off.

if you think im being particularly doom and gloom because of yesterdays result then youre mistaken

just general feels that you cant really say after a positive result

Newcastle may consider Alli as a back-up option if they are unable to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United. (Mirror)

Seems fair enough to me. Lingard was good for a few months for West Ham. When was the last time Dele was good for that long?

Definitely fair enough Spurtle. I just meant from Dele's peak to now.. and he's only, what, 25? Such a shame.

Yeah well we've known for a while that Dele is wasting his talent. He should be approaching his peak years right now if anything, and he's the furthest from it that he's ever been.

To be honest, given the lack of stuff we are doing in the window I probably wouldn't say no to Lingard on a loan, if it was ever a possibility.

posted on 24/1/22

It's funny that Lingard is a reverse Dele. They were waiting and waiting for him to come good and he finally does at the end of his career. Yeah I'd have him as a stop gap till the end of the season. We need to freshen things up. Plus you just know Conte would like him.
