I guess it depends on whether you believe the BBC or Sky Bet.

I'd be astonished if Maguire didn't want the move but as said he's reportedly a top pro. I don't expect an online video saying he wants to leave anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest he won’t get CL football at United and Leicester have stated their ambition to break the top 6 this year, which will be hard. If this was city he would be pushing for the move
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only chance of Leicester breaking into the top 6 is if they sell Maguire and reinvest. Some of my Leicester mates want him sold if they get a good price. He’s a £30m player tops.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
30m??? Don’t be daft. He is probably at the 55m mark for me, give. He is British and relatively experienced international . Granted, he is not in a million years worth 70-80m. That would be ludicrous if that happens.

Maguire would not be an improvement on VVD-Gomez though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Or Matip given his form.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficult to say. Matip and Lovren were a laughing stock without VVD beside them.

Gomes too wouldn't look as assured with any other partner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And yet Matip partnered by Fabinho were good enough to shut out Bayern Munich in the CL in Feb when VVD was suspended.

That would suggest that Matip is not quite as bad as you think and I believe he would also start ahead of Maguire.

I'd rather take my eye test plus stats that back it up rather than just your eye test.

And you said frequently which literally means regular basis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you disagree with leicester fans aswell do you? Instead you are taking some stats from some pony site
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it a pony site? you just said you never heard of them, now they are "pony"? How would you know? I haven't disagreed with the leicester fan, but the stats do. Like I said earlier in the thread I will have to watch him closely going forward.

Either way you got caught out.

Regular basis = frequently

Clutching at straws now aren't you lad from one little comment I made. You then scurried over to some poxy stats site to try and prove your point....brilliant

Not clutching at straws. Just pointed out you were incorrect. That points been proving. And then lied on top of that. Poor from you. UL

Matip is obviously better than any united cb. Also while vvd is exceptional Alisson and the emergence if the diull backs were a key part if the back fours dramatic improvement.

Vvd would make any defence better of course.

TBF Glazer they did get robertson, brought TAA through and did buy Alison too. It wasn't just VVD.

I can't argue with that, BUT, we also had Kalamitous / Ming the useless behind them which didn't help.

Talking about CB's. I'm aware they Improved fullbacks and keeper too.

Matip Lovren and Gomez were a car crash before VVD arrived. Short memories on here.

Nobody thought Rio or Vidic were the best at the time we bought them.
Rio was the best English available, we got roundly mocked for the fee we paid.
Maguire is the best English available, he's better than decent, he's good to very good, though not great.
He will add something on the pitch and in the dressing rooM
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ferdinand has moved for a record fee to Leeds and then to Utd, he was extremely rated and only 24.

Vidic was chased by both Utd & Liverpool when he signed for Utd, again only 24.

Maguire is older and nowhere near as good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maguire has only just turned 26.

City and Utd are in for Maguire

Rio was highly rated, but very prone to an error. People were shocked at the fee.

If Maguire as good as either? I don't believe so, but equally his only platform to perform at the highest level was the WC, and he was very good.

I wouldn’t spend 70m on him. Waste of money on a not world class player. Max 50m
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does the cost really matter, when it's only a £20m difference?

To a club like ours, £20m doesn't affect the overall transfer strategy does it.

If he is the player we have scouted and Ole has decided he will fit the team, then we should trust that.

I'm sick of signing players because of their name and not playing for the team.

I'm not going to argue that Maguire would improve Liverpool, because to be honest I don't watch them or Maguire enough to speak with authority. However, the fact that it's not just VVD, but improvement across the whole defensive unit (goalkeeper and full backs), that has changed since Matip and Lovren were badly rated by LFC and opposition fans surely strengthens rather than weakens the argument that Matip / Lovren aren't all that special.

In fact, the whole team has improved massively. We tend to overlook the influence of team dynamics on the performance of the individual. I'm sure Matip and Lovren were potentially better than they looked back then, and that they can look better than they might be when slotting into a well organised, confident team surrounded by great players and leaders.

As we’ve already placed a bid don’t change the bid. Just tap maguire up some more and make him force the move away by handing a transfer request. Make his position untenable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That only works if he really wants a move to United. Now you’ve bid £70m, if he wanted to try and force Leicester’s hand he could hand in a transfer request as Riyad Mahrez did the moment Man City first came in with a lower bid.

Keep rejecting, Leicester.

Weird how VVD can make everyone better but Moreno and Mignolet cant make people seem worse isnt it.

Overall though to say Maguire would walk into our team when he plays the same side as VVD and is slow, therefore not suiting our line, is the silliest thing Ive read on here this week.

It's only Tuesday though I guess.
