"I would like to say a special thankyou to Mel Morris, players, staff and everyone associated with derby county football club. It has been a fantastic experience for me and I feel privileged to have managed such a prestigious club. Most of all, I want to thank the fans who supported me and the team from the day I arrived in the city. I wish everyone the best of luck going forward".

Feels like I'm 16 and just been dumped. Knew it was coming, told myself I was going to man up and deal with it but it's still a sad kick in the guts now it's actually happened.

I did not see this coming.

Don't you see Cocu as an improvement, Haprs?

posted on 4/7/19

I do, sheep botherer, just as I see my wife as an improvement on every woman I've ever dated before her, but it still doesn't change the fact that at the time, it hurt.

Cheers Frank. It was a great season. His lasting legacy I hope will be that he raised our profile to the level where we could attract a top international coach to replace a completely untried former player.

That's a great point Vidal and something I have thought to myself as well the past day or two, had Rowett stuck around another season instead and left us this summer, would we have got a sniff of cocu? I think not. The profile of the club as been hugely raised this past 12 months and we have both Frank, but mainly Mel Morris to thank for that. Say what you want about the bloke but for me over the last year he's shown himself to be both an astute, high calibre businessman and a proper derby man and fan through and through.

Absolutely no doubt about it. I think Derby used Frank at least as much as we used Frank. Funny how it works out. That one match against Leeds seems to have been the catalyst I reckon it glossed over some deficiencies in Frank. I think he would have gone on to get us up because he is smart enough to learn. I will be really interested to see how he gets on with higher quality players. I hope he does well and goes on to manage England.

Be interesting to see how he gets on with big ego's as well.

Good luck to him, he'll certainly need it.

Or derby used Frank as much as Frank used derby......

I cant make my mind up wether I am sorry or pleased he is gone. there were some great games yes but some rubbish ones aswell.i may be wrong but between dec 17 and march 13 I believe we gained 19 points out of a possible 48 and a possible automatic promotion spot through poor team selection that also cost us the Wembley play off final. for me an average manager that promised a lot but failed to deliver and I read on equal games got 1 point less than rowett ? .he wont get away with it at Chelsea.i wonder if he would have stayed if we had got promoted.i think he might have. dcfc have wished him good luck and so do i. he will need it

Classy from Jody ...

"What can I say...This last year I’ve made some of the most amazing memories and experienced some of the most euphoric feelings in my football career..the warmth in which the city embraced us was evident from day one and continued throughout our time in Derbados..the fans enthusiasm and love for this great football club was apparent whenever you walked in the city (or jogged in chaddy)..I’m so proud and privileged to have felt that..from the off Mel Morris was quite simply a class act and I’m not sure anybody yearns for success in DE24 more...A true fan who is passionate about his team..I’d like to say a special thank you to Mels wife Sharon who made my family feel so welcome and was always there to help in any capacity especially on matchdays..The staff throughout the training ground were a joy to be around and worked tirelessly to support us and the players..
A special mention for ‘Mi Duck’
Adam Storrer , an absolute diamond of a bloke who I’ll be forever grateful and I’ve made a pal for life in Storrs 🖤
Thank You so much to the players that bought into what we tried to do straight away and gave us all such a great ride.I’ll never forget some of the moments we experienced together..I loved watching you grow as a group and want nothing more than for you to be successful and keep improving as players, no matter what stage of your career you’re at..
To all the Rams out there I hope you understand how much we appreciated your support.
The SILENCE of late which some of you took as disrespect was the complete opposite..we had no choice but to keep quiet while negotiations were ongoing and would never want to mislead anybody..I hope you can see we have nothing but love and respect for this football club..
I have had one year in Derby which was unbelievable but I’ve had a lifetime of loving and supporting The Chels.. @dcfcofficial will be the first results I look for..always a Cockney 🐏🖤"

Must admit I’ve felt resentful at times during this saga. But the Rams will be fine. And peace is a more comfortable feeling. xxx

Agreed Cat. I bear no resentment towards FL and his team and wish them well.
Mainly, I hope it's a chance for Mason Mount and Fik Tomori to progress their careers. I think we will miss them more than the manager this coming season.

What a terrible thought !

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but the article, for those who can't be bothered to click on it, says that Mel has confirmed Cocu is flying to Florida to join the squad today, but the actual signing won't be until later today.

Frank and Jody are decent men and I wish them well at their new club. We had a good time last season and it was one of the better ones. Hope the next one is even better.

Just announce the appointment of Cocu already! This end of season drama has been too much. We want to now enjoy all the ridiculous foreign players we might be linked to from PSV, Ajax, Feyenoord, Fernabache and Barca.

posted on 4/7/19

It was fun, if we'd played Huddz for the last half of the season instead of just Wembley it might have been even more so. <>

Wish Frank and Jody all the best in their careers, although would be happy to see Chelsea return to their pre KGB money levels of success.

We rise.

Back to Vidals point about raised profile. Leeds did get Bielsa despite being on the scrap heap.

Think there’s a bit of movement from owners to look for gold instead of journeymen.
