Phil Hay saying there's a breakdown between him and club and likely will be going.

One of those things that I doubt we will ever hear the full story. He's a good defender and has been class for us overall. If he leaves, we absolutely need a replacement. I'm not having that Ben White is his replacement.

Would expect at least 8m for him

This is what PH has said, doesn't sound good:

as best I can tell, the relationship between Jansson and the club has broken down. There are things Leeds aren’t happy about in terms of attitude etc and I’d expect a parting of ways very soon.

Massive loss. Our best centre back in my opinion and one of the best in the league.

If relationships have broken down then we need to sell him. Would be gutted.

Would be even more gutted if White was brought in knowingly as his replacement though! Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

£12m, International Defender. Arguably (I think) is one of their top 2 defenders of a reasonably decent European side.

Anyone seen this quote before?

“I was the main man around here... until Bielsa arrived”

Being attributed to Pontus. Don't know if it's legit?
Don't know if it was said in jest, if real?

Waccoe source saying 4 mill. Which is a joke.

Bielsa said he was being ironic however the likely sale of Pontus Jansson appears to be the consequence:

"Jansson didn't want to obey the indication I gave. That diminishes my authority and I don't know what the consequences are when you lose respect from a player."

This has to be referencing the Villa walk in goal that Pontus said fook no not on my watch, surely?

That was after the Villa game, Batty. Thinking back, that was his last involvement- didn't play at Ipswich or the play offs. He made his "I'll play in a wheelchair" comment but then Bielsa didn't select him.

Jansson is a good defender but he's also his own man. Has he really ever fully bought into Bielsa's way? I can't remember when it was but Jansson said something in the press about running with the ball out of defence and Bielsa telling him not to do it but he still does it anyway. Villa game another example of that. Then the Wigan game when he was running forward at every opportunity and neglected his defensive responsibilities - Did Bielsa tell him to do that?

When Pontus 1st came in he was leagues above what we had seen in years. He was a commanding centrehalf who scored goals from set pieces, good on the ball and a passionate Club man.

However since his defensive brains left him in the form of Bartley, he has been exposed imo. He jas no real defensive nouse and is full of mistakes albeit more subtle than Coopers.

He leaves gaps in defense
He ball watches
He brigs the ball out of defense too much and gets caught.
He isnt a leader, he is rogue.
He is all about HIM and HIM alone.
Lets not forget the interviews where team mates state that he was the big man on Campus, ADD that to what he said about not being phased by a taskmaster coming in.

For me he flatters to deceive and whilst he has brilliance in him, he is as a whole package not what you want in a team of brothers.

Side before self.

Makes sense what has come out from Hay.one or two perhaps through trying to get their heads round it poured scorn on the rumours but often such things are based on something and not some kind of conspiracy.

Cannot for the life of me understand why you didn't come in for Pinnock from us.
Absolute rolls Royce of a centre half.

Player might be leaving

The all of a sudden, he’s w@nk

What a set of Kants some you lot are

He’s Terrific at this level

Both him and coops are excellent.

Be a blow if he leaves

Every player has their price and there have been question marks regarding Pontus being a team player before.

Didnt think this was on cards until a couple of days ago but do believe we will see more furstvteam departures.

Just don’t want this all done so last minute that we don’t get proper replacements in, one casts mind back to Wood going late and being replaced by lassoga.

If that's aimed at me LIW, I'm not happy he's leaving (if true - which it looks like it is). Love the player. But, it makes sense now, what's going on. Clash of heads.

I'll add, I think him and Cooper play well together.

However, if you were the club, and you knew the situation between MB and Pontus is shot, who would you rather keep? Because, by all indications, their
relationship is shot.

Fully agree LIW. Same old sheeeet every time we sell a player. Pontus has been our best centre back since the premier league in my opinion.

Does he have flaws? Of course. Is he an ego? Yes. Can we replace him? We’ll see.

And not to hi-jack this thread, but, will there be a knock on affect if Pontus does leave? How close is he to KP, Roofe, others? Is that what Jonty and Don were hinting at? Especially Don who said squad shake-up's coming.

posted on 6/7/19

Don't think any of the comments on here are saying that, LIW.

People just wondering why the relationship between him and club has broken down. His attitude is something that stands out and not the first time.

What a load of b*llocks that is.

Jansson is probably in the top 5 players we’ve had at the club since we’ve been in the prem.

If he leaves, we should be commanding £10mill as a fee.

I prefer Cooper (an opinion I have stated prior to this week).

Atleast, he's been in 2 of the 3 teams of the season. Name a better centre half than him in this league .....

Phil Hay now saying " Leeds have issues with Jansson's attitude and feel it's the right decision to move him on from the dressing room. Bielsa is on board with the sale"

He's a class defender but doesn't fully buy into the Bielsa way IMO. Monk dropped him for that unknown reason 2 years ago - he's his own man and that doesn't work when the tactics are everything like with Bielsa
