Not played enough first team football to have any idea how good he is.

Possibly see the likes of Watson, Bridcutt and Yacob moves on now

If we can move on a few of our over inflated squad, then I think this could be a really exciting season

Too many players, spells the danger of too many choices, too many changes, which ultimately results in a complete lack of consistency as a team, which has been our failings in previous seasons

It’s been a decent transfer window so far. Grant rightly moving on. I hardly saw Soudani play, so no sadness there. And Vellios? Could be 3m between those three and it pays for Silva.

Silva - has consistent stats in the Portuguese league and is the type of player we need.
Ameobi - was on a free and has been consistent in a poor Bolton side.
Semedo - Well, it’s only a loan. I’d think another DM once Bridcutt, Watson or both go.

I've heard 4m banded around for just the Vellios transfer, so maybe 7-8m in total? (is to Olly afterall)

Silva - 2 year deal, Ameobi - 1 year deal, Semedo - Loan
Feels like a very safe window so far. These signings have the feel of setting the groundwork, but with a few choice signings and some deadwood already moved/moving on, looks to be a progressive window.

The market has gone wild this year, the prices banded around for good but not spectacular players is comical. This is a better time than any to look abroad for talent and maybe explains our continental approach.

Have to agree. The domestic market has got more and more ridiculous over the last few years. Partly explains why the Colback and Byram links have gone cold and the Mendes marketing machine has gone into overdrive.

Silva appears decent enough looking at how he has done previously. Is a decent age so may not be overawed by the Championship like how Dias and Goncalves were.

Semedo seems to have the hype behind him. Little more cautious on this one and won’t believe any of this worth £20m+ guff they’re putting about in relation to him. Dias was supposedly worth something similar and that valuation was laughable.

The incomings won’t have the desired effect without some space being cleared for them however. I hope that there’ll be more outgoings once the Greek trip has been completed.

Semedo and Ribeiro officially sign

Semedo on a season long loan and Ribiero on a permanent 👍

Can't understand why people are sounding so positive about the window so far. Ameobi is a decent Championship winger and a reasonable option for Matty Cash. The Portugese guys should not be judged from Youtube videos or stats from the Portugese league.

As far as outgoings there are still not enough being shown the door. We still have a squad in excess of thirty meaning on matchday there will be 12-15 players sitting in the stand moaning and stirring things up. And thirty is still too many to have on the training ground; the coaching staff will be spreading themselves too thinly.

You'd hope they have more outgoings planned before the new season starts.

Planning is one thing, executing those plans is a different matter.

Interesting to hear that the two Portuguese players haven’t cost anything. Semedo is a year’s loan with no option to buy. Ribeiro was let got on a free even though he signed a five year deal last summer. Benfica retain a 50% sell on clause.

Portuguese league gave a limit on the number of players that a club can loan out so they have to get players off the books by giving them away for free. A 50% sell in clause suggests they reckon he might be valuable in the future.

Can you imagine Chelsea’s faces if the same restrictions were introduced here?...
