Who was the best though?

Crouch or Robbie (boyhood club) Keane?

Not really much of a contest.

Who was it Crouch scored that freak goal against? Was that the City one?

Loved Crouchie. Good player and top bloke as well, had a really good career.

I'll remember him for the overhead bicycle goals and also that perfect hat trick against Arsenal.

What are your best memories of him?

---------------

... his missus.

Decent career and good bloke, to be fair.

Good job he managed to win a trophy with Liverpool before he joined Spurs

That's set back Levy's plan to sign him, have to be Llorente now

Robbie Keane for sure.

Always liked Crouch, good luck to him, has had a very good career

Always liked Crouchie. Pretty limited player but always gave his all, was rarely injured and seemed like a genuinely nice bloke.

Goal at the Etihad vs City is obviously the memory that sticks out.

Really average Championship quality player who made the best of what little ability he had. Wouldn't get anywhere near the Spurs and Pool sides of today. Olivier Giroud who is a similar type is twice the player he ever was.

Decent self deprecating bloke though who is probably well aware of how fortunate he's been.

His podcast is good fun.

He must have ate some amount of bananas and porridge to last as long as he has.

Both average mid table players - probably why you rate them

bit of a harsh summary Dan

He was clearly a good enough prem player at his best. Lucky to have got in the sides of Liverpool & Spurs though. Stoke, Southampton and Villa were about his level

Yeah maybe you're right. Champ player is a tad harsh. Decent enough player who, as you say, found his level with low to mid table prem sides

Giroud won the WC, French title, Europa Cup 4 FACs etc, 35 odd golas for France and scored at a greater rate than Crouch. So yeah Crouch is clearly so much better

Giroud played in better teams than Crouch though, which is even more important for that type of striker.
