The modern trend is for goal keepers to act as an extra defender so need to be confident with the ball at their feet. Roos will therefore get the nod over Carson.

It’s the fact he doesn’t command his box or look confident off his line that worries me. Personally think a new keeper is becoming a priority.

I thought that looked promising. Don't know how the playing out from the back will survive against better oppo, though.
Wellies would have been happy with Huddz's performance, I think 🤔

And Dowell looked a quality player

Huddz and Dowell both very impressive today. I also worry about the keeper position.

Don't worry Vidal, they probably wont pick you.

Highlights, (Burton keeper making Roos look good for our first).

Wisdom still injured. It was a 4-2-3-1. Dowell played a bit deeper than I expected although when possible he got into advance areas with Huddz doing what he does, and doing it very well indeed. He seemed to play the ball a bit quicker than last season and was key to us playing it quickly out of defence, which we did very well a few times. Whether Davies will contribute to that style as well as Evans I don’t know, though Davies is a better defender.

Bennett played behind Waghorn. I didn’t think he used the ball all that well but he got in some good positions. I would like to see Marriott there but I wonder if Shinnie will come in alongside Huddz and Dowell play a bit further forward. I also think Martin could play as a number 10 but I think Cocu wants a more energetic player in that role.

Anya was OK, he put in some decent effort but it was only fifteen minutes. At the moment I don’t think Josefzoon offers much more than Anya. I don’t think I saw him take on his man once today though he had plenty of chances to do so.

Off to Canada on Friday, Wellies. Vancouver, then Vancouver Island, then Toronto.

When are you in Toronto I’ll see if I can negotiate a few days in the 6ix home of NBA champions, fallen MLS champions and nowhere near MLB champions.

Currently this side of the pond though.

Hope Cocu doesn't take any notice of that game. The Burton goal keeper gifted Wagstaff 3 goals. I can guarantee that wont happen in the Championship.

2-2 away from home not a bad result in the championship.

Depends on the opposition. It's 2 points dropped.

Anyone remember when we beat Notts County 8 0 preseason and then didn't win any of our first 7 league games.

Wellies, I arrive in Toronto on 8th August and leave late on the 12th. I have tickets to see Blue Jays vs Yankees on the 9th and bus tickets to Niagara on the 11th.

Bus!

I never had you down as a peasant Vidal.

Alright I’ll see what I can swing Vidal’s. Do you have my email think I gave it out in times of JA golfing competitions.

I do have an email somewhere Wellies.

Sorry Scouse, predictive text. My personal guide for Niagara is a Busty Kitts, who sounds charming.

Niagara is one of the most disappointing tourist attractions on the planet. I have heard though that the maid of the mist is a brilliant white knuckle ride. Haven't done it myself though.

I have been there once before and I was impressed enough to want to go there again. I don’t suppose the falls have changed much. The town of Niagara was tacky and awful although the nearby small town of Niagara-on-the-lake was delightful. The eiswein they make there is wonderful if you like that sort of thing. I did go on the Maid of the Mist previously which was a great way to feel the power of the falls.

Personally I just flung mi sen over the falls. Think the danger is overrated and if you are in trouble they’re always Superman to lend a hand.
